Titus left the dining room and headed toward Jennifer.
She was sitting alone, lost in thought, so distracted that she didn’t even notice him approach.
“I’m tired,” Titus said quietly. “Let’s head upstairs.”
Then he added, “There’s something I want to ask you. Come with me.”
Without waiting for a response, he grabbed her hand, pulled her to her feet, and led her upstairs.
Only after they reached the second floor did Jennifer fully register what was happening.
“Young Master,” she said instinctively, “my room is on the first floor.”
