River leaned back in his chair and said, “You should spend the morning at the office. You haven’t been here in ages—you don’t even know what’s going on anymore. Use the time to get familiar with things. Otherwise, you won’t even know where to sign your name this afternoon.”
Leonidas groaned. “…Can I still back out?”
If he had known he’d be dragged into working at the company just for showing up to gossip, he would have stayed home, slept until he woke up naturally, eaten when he felt like it, and spent the day doing whatever he pleased. That was the life.
River smirked. “Sure, you can quit—if you’re willing to deal with the consequences. If you don’t help run the company, I’ll finally have time to chase after my wife. From now on, we each manage half the business. I’m done working myself to the bone for you. If Yantail goes under, I can just head back to Wiltspoon and inherit the York family fortune. We’re not exactly hurting for money.”
