The Johnsons couldn’t seem to produce more daughters, even if they wanted to. The elders always said, “Having Avah is already a blessing—better than Ben’s generation, which had none.”
“You’re the one who said no to a second child,” Jane reminded him. “Back then, I was open to the idea. You’re the one who talked me out of it. And now you’re suddenly changing your mind?”
A few years ago, Jane had seriously considered another baby.
But Ben, seeing how much she struggled during the pregnancy, said no.
So, this sudden change of heart caught her off guard.
After boarding the plane and taking their seats, Ben smiled and said, “No big reason. Just thinking out loud. Maybe seeing Zachary with a second child—a daughter this time—got me a little tempted.”
