Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 2037-“Chiara! I’ve endured your control, your bullying, but when it comes to Ash, the woman I truly love, I won’t let you treat her like this!” Maxwell’s temper flared, echoing through the cold, snow–covered cave as he unleashed his fury on his wife.
“Huh, sounds like someone’s grown a pair now. The nerve you have, speaking to me with that tone,” Chiara scoffed, her voice dripping with contempt. “Don’t forget who helped you become the heir apparent, Zelinsky. Without the Lannister family’s support, do you think you could’ve defeated Magnus and inherited the family?” Maxwell let out a long sigh, his eyes darting toward the cave entrance. He knew Chiara’s martial arts skills were far superior to theirs, and she had surely noticed Ashton’s presence in the cave.
Love’s Redemption “Maxwell, I’m warning you–stay in line. If I find out you’re reigniting old feelings with that woman, you’ll regret it!” Chiara threatened, her voice cold and sharp.
But Maxwell, for once, didn’t bend to her will. He fired back passionately, “Ash is the only one I love! Not you, you controlling tigress! If she still loves me, I’d walk through fire and water–hell, I’d even leap into the abyss if it meant being with her!” Ashton, overhearing this, froze in shock. Some nerve, Maxwell, that jack*ss has to say such things! She had nearly lost her life helping him steal important documents from the Holy Fire organization. And once he had what he wanted, he’d dumped her in favor of a political marriage with Chiara Now he claimed he’d always loved her? Ashton wasn’t buying it. Besides, her heart belonged to someone else now, not this smooth–talking liar.
Love’s Redemption “Maxwell, go to hell!” Chiara screamed, her anger flaring as she slapped him hard across the face, sending him crashing to the ground. Without a second glance, she stormed out of the cave, her footsteps fading into the snowy vind.
Ashton flinched at the sound of the slap, which echoed so loudly it seemed to shake the cave itself. For a moment, she was so stunned by what had just happened that she forgot she had come for revenge. By the time she snapped out of it, Chiara was already gone, leaving Maxwell lying on the ground, sobbing. His cries grew louder, tears streaming down his face.
“Ash, if only I had another chance, I’d hold you close and never let go! Why do we humans only learn to cherish what we’ve lost? Ash, where are you? I miss you so much!” Maxwell continued, completely absorbed in his emotional display.
