Hathaway was furious after finding out what happened in the concert hall, and she called the crew chief over to reprimand him. “Is this how you guys do your job? Why didn’t you check properly before you guys left?! She was beyond relieved that Nicholas had shown up in the nick of time and saved Tessa, or they would’ve had to deal with the death of a pregnant woman if the spotlight landed on her.
Just thinking of it made Hathaway fearful, and for that, she wanted the crew chief to give her a justifiable explanation. She thought the stagehands of this concert hall were really irresponsible, and it worried her that a similar incident would happen during the performance.
Shortly after, the managing director rushed over after getting the news. “Miss Hathaway, please allow me to apologize on behalf of our crew for our remiss.”
He humbled himself as soon as he came, repeatedly apologizing to Hathaway.

At that, some began echoing.

“It’s all my fault. You wouldn’t have gotten hurt if I reacted in time.”
“Don’t be too hard on yourself. Anyone would’ve been petrified at that moment.” Nicholas tried to ease her worries, not wanting her to go down a blind alley. “Also, I’m glad you’re not the one hurt, or I’d be really worried.”
Tessa choked up, not sure what to say.
Seeing so, Gregory went up and comforted her like a little adult. “Mommy, don’t cry. Daddy’s a grown man, and he’ll be fine.”
Having said that, he still looked toward his father with worry. “Daddy, do you want me to blow on your boo-boo? That way, you won’t feel so painful.”
Nicholas burst into a chuckle in response. “Thank you, but it’s fine. Help me comfort your mommy.”
Gregory nodded obediently and helped soothe Tessa’s emotions, which they successfully did.
Mona, who was still in the room, was forced to witness the PDA, but she didn’t mind it. In fact, she was happy for her friend when she saw that Nicholas was doing considerably okay.
On that note, she stood up and announced with a smile, “Well, I’ll be on my way since President Sawyer has woken up.”
It was only then Tessa remembered her dear friend was still present, and she said with embarrassment, “Be careful on your way back. Thanks for keeping me company.”
“Thank you.” Nicholas looked gratefully at Mona too, who waved her hand. “There’s no need to thank me. I couldn’t ease my mind when I saw how worried Tessa was.”
Nicholas nodded in response and asked their butler to send Mona back.

Clearly, this accident was aimed at Tessa. After all, he had gone to the concert hall on the spur of the moment. Tessa and Hathaway were taken aback, but before they could ask, Nicholas turned to his subordinate expressionlessly. “What’s the situation?”
“We’ve gotten to the bottom of it, boss,” the subordinate reported his findings truthfully. “Kathleen bribed one of the stagehands with money, instructing him to damage the spotlight’s wire.”
The news shook Hathaway. How could it be Kathleen?!
“There must be a mistake. Kathleen couldn’t possibly have done such a thing. As daring as she is, she wouldn’t actually dare hurt anyone.”
“Is that so? Why does my memory tell me that this isn’t her first instance at a murder attempt, though?” After taking an aloof gander at Hathaway, Nicholas shifted his gaze to his subordinate. “Do you have proof?”
“Yes, boss.” The subordinate nodded and presented the definitive piece of evidence; it was a video recording of Kathleen bribing the stagehand.
“I’ll give you a million for busting the spotlight,” said Kathleen wickedly to the stagehand in the recording.
Hathaway turned grimmer by the second, and she was so livid that her hands trembled involuntarily. “How… How dare she do such a thing?!” she said through gnashed teeth while glaring daggers at the young woman in the recording.
She couldn’t even face Tessa anymore at this point, feeling ashamed.
“I’ll definitely give you a justifiable answer to this.” Hathaway strode out after saying so.

Hathaway, on the other hand, was beyond heartbroken seeing that Kathleen was impenitent.
Just then, Tessa showed up at the door with the subordinate from earlier.
“Are you still going to continue denying what you’ve done?” She glared at Kathleen, thinking she had never seen anyone as shameless as that woman.
Tessa’s sudden appearance surprised Kathleen, but she managed to calm down in two shakes and retorted, “Why shouldn’t I deny it? What evidence do you have to prove it has anything to do with me?”
Tessa bore into Kathleen and took her phone out to play the recording she copied from the subordinate. “I’ll give you a million if for busting the spotlight.”

Meanwhile, Tessa approached Kathleen with a fixed gaze, taking one step at a time. “Well, what do you have to say for yourself now?”

Kathleen’s face was bloodless at this point. No one knew if it was from fear or guilt, but even so, Tessa wasn’t going to spare her.
She suddenly raised her voice and questioned, “Are you going to still deny your misdeeds when it has already come to this?”
Kathleen sneered as she locked eyes with Tessa, having regained her senses. “You want me to admit my faults? Dream on!”
Lo and behold, Tessa slapped her as soon as she finished her words.
“How dare you slap me?” Kathleen held her cheek in shock.
“This slap is for the injury you caused my husband!” Tessa wasn’t intimidated by Kathleen’s venomous glare. “I can overlook all the times you tried to harm me, but I won’t forgive you this time when human life is involved. If you’re still indignant, talk to the police!”
At that, the police came through the door and took Kathleen away, leaving only Tessa and Hathaway in the room.
It was evident that Hathaway was reluctant to see her daughter be taken away by the police as she looked at the door.
She looked hesitantly at Tessa a few times but ultimately said nothing.

In reality, it was as Nicholas thought—Tessa was indeed worried.
After all, Hathaway was really nice to her, yet she handed Kathleen, Hathaway’s only daughter, to the police.
“Do you suppose I’ll be putting Miss Hathaway in a difficult position with what I’ve done? I mean, the concert is just around the corner, and now this has happened to Kathleen. What is Miss Hathaway going to do about Group One’s performance?” Tessa hadn’t said so because she was thinking of forgiving Kathleen. She was just purely worried for her mentor.
“The one at fault is Kathleen, not you.” Nicholas held her hand and comforted her. He then added, “You’ve already compromised many times for Hathaway. However, Kathleen never once considered her mother’s position and thought of you as a pain in her neck. Who knows what else will happen if you keep tolerating her behavior? We should stop her now before she really does anything irreversible. That way, both you and your mentor will be fine.”
Tessa agreed that she had done the right thing, and she didn’t regret doing this to Kathleen at all, for that woman was why Nicholas was now in the hospital. Her heart wrenched every time she recalled Nicholas lying unconsciously in her arms.
Meanwhile, talks of Kathleen being taken away by police spread amongst the orchestra.

Meanwhile, an unexpected guest came to Hathaway’s room.
“What are you doing here?” Hathaway looked at the man behind the door, who was clearly not welcomed.
He was a typical Viennese man who looked to be around forty years old, and his suit made him look gentlemanly. In fact, he was Kathleen’s father and Hathaway’s ex-husband, Rorion.
“What do you think I’m doing here? I left Kathleen in your hands, but you just sat back and let the police take her away! What kind of mother does that?!” Rorion, who was frothing at his mouth, shoved Hathaway into the room, causing her to stumble a couple of steps before she managed to stable herself.
“Since you’ve heard about this, then you should know Kathleen brought it upon herself.” She looked expressionlessly at the man in her room. “You’re not welcomed here. Get out.”
“Do you think I’d have come to find you if it weren’t for Kathleen? You want me to leave? Fine. Tell your student to release Kathleen.”
“Impossible!” Hathaway refused without a second thought.
She wasn’t shameless enough to beg Tessa to forgive Kathleen when her daughter had done Tessa so much harm.
“Looks like Kathleen wasn’t wrong when she said you think nothing of her as your daughter anymore.” Rorion snorted disdainfully and snapped, “I haven’t come here to discuss. Instead, I’m ordering you to bail Kathleen this instance.”
“Kathleen should be punished for the damage she has done.” Hathaway wasn’t yielding. “I won’t ask Tessa to forgive Kathleen.”
“Hathaway!” Rorion was beside himself with rage at this point, and very quickly, the situation escalated into a heated argument.
Tessa, on the other hand, had no idea that had happened while she was caring for Nicholas in the hospital, where she continued to stay for another two days since Kathleen was taken away.
Nicholas recovered quite well, and his body showed no adverse reactions. Hence, they were given the green light to leave the following day.
Finally, Tessa could return to rehearsals with an eased mind.
“Morning, Miss Hathaway,” she greeted with a smile when she saw Hathaway coming in her direction. Subsequently, she noticed that Hathaway’s face seemed to be injured. “Miss Hathaway, your face…” she asked with surprise.
“I’m fine. How’s your husband?” Hathaway changed the topic, not wanting to talk about her injury.

Tessa frowned in response, but before she could say anything, Mona warned, “You’d better be careful wherever you go lately. You don’t want to mess with Miss Hathway’s ex-husband. I won’t be surprised if he gives you any trouble because of Kathleen.”
Tessa turned grim upon hearing Mona’s words. What kind of man hits a woman? Also, Kathleen has herself to blame for her current situation!
“Is Miss Hathaway not going to call the police on him?”

In the afternoon, Tessa and Mona went to the canteen to have their lunch when they met Scott unexpectedly. “Mr. Brooks? Why are you here?” Tessa looked at him in surprise.
Scott didn’t plan to hide from them and briefly explained the situation, “Kathleen couldn’t make it to the performance, so Miss Hathaway asked me to take her place.”
He then continued in worry, “I heard from Miss Hathaway about what happened that day. I can’t believe that Kathleen would do such a thing. Luckily, you’re fine.”

“How is she?” Tessa was curious, for she didn’t care about this matter anymore ever since she sent Kathleen to the police station. She wanted to know whether Kathleen had realized her mistakes after such a long time.
Scott seemingly noticed what was on Tessa’s mind and he replied in disappointment, “She’s still the same, and she does not feel any remorse.”
“Kathleen is already used to being arrogant, so it’s impossible for her to admit to her mistake. Now that her patron is here, the chance is even slighter.” Mona sighed at the side as she felt that asking Kathleen to admit to her mistake was like nailing Jell-O to a tree.
Scott frowned too, for he knew a little about Kathleen’s father. Although her father looked gentle on the outside, he was actually an insolent man who would cover up his family’s wrongdoings no matter what. “Kathleen’s father is really a powerful man who’s not to be trifled with. “Master Kieran is managing the company now, so everything is going quite well,” Edward answered honestly, and he chose several big projects to report to him.
Nicholas nodded after hearing that. He wasn’t really worried as he had confidence in his little brother too. Then, he continued, “What about Old Master Sawyer?”
“He’s not very happy ever since he returned,” answered Edward after hesitating momentarily.
When he noticed this, Nicholas said with a frown, “Don’t falter. Just spit it.”
When Edward heard that, he quickly told Nicholas what was bothering him. “While you’ve been away these days, Miss Muller has been keeping in constant contact with Old Master Sawyer. Do you need someone to impede them?”
Nicholas squinted his eyes after hearing that. He knew very well what Remus was trying to do, and he also knew that stopping him would only stir him up. “It’s okay. Just let them do whatever they want.”
