Ch. 1461..1470
Always Been Yours Chapter 1461-"I only suffered some minor injuries. It's nothing serious." Timothy did not want to worry his sister, so he deliberately concealed the truth from her.
Therefore, Tessa did not dwell on the matter and heaved a sigh of relief. "I'm glad you're fine."
At this moment, Stefania came forward with Gordon in her arms to express her concern for Tessa.
"Comparatively, your situation is far more severe. Your body was initially recovering from your previous injuries. But, on top of that, you've added such severe wounds to your already ailing body. I'm afraid it will take at least a year for you to heal completely."
As soon as the words left her mouth, everybody else nodded in agreement.
Timothy was also distraught and suggested, "Why don't you rest for a year or so, Tess?"
"I will take some time to recuperate." Tessa knew that they had her best interests at heart, so she did not reject the suggestion.
Afterward, she chatted with her family for some time until she succumbed to her exhaustion and fell into a deep sleep. Since she had just suffered from a bad concussion, it was only natural for her to need more rest than usual.
Stefania soon left the hospital ward with Gregory and Gordon.
On the other hand, Timothy stayed behind.
Needless to say, Nicholas knew the reason why Timothy had chosen to stay behind. He considerately tucked the blankets around Tessa and walked out of the hospital ward.
Timothy immediately understood and quickly followed Nicholas out of the hospital room. As soon as they left the hospital ward, he anxiously questioned Nicholas. "I heard that Edward has found the culprit who tried to murder my sister."
Nicholas nodded and relayed the entire story without hiding anything.
"It's her?!" Like Tessa, Timothy was highly shocked after hearing the truth. His initial reaction was quickly followed by a wave of hatred and loathing. He looked at Nicholas with a sharp gaze and forced his words out through gritted teeth, "That woman has been targeting my sister for a long time. I can't believe she has not repented her mistakes even after changing her appearance. In that case, we have to ensure that she will not get off lightly this time."
Nicholas shared the same sentiment. Nobody could get away lightly after hurting his family!
On the other side, Rorion and Hathaway arrived at the airport and immediately headed straight for the police station without any delay. When they arrived at the police station, they revealed the reason for their arrival, whereupon the police quickly arranged a meeting for them.
Inside the interrogation room, she nervously sat on her chair and glanced at the door from time to time. In contrast, he seemed calm on the surface. Nonetheless, he was actually desperately thinking of a method to help his daughter escape her criminal charges.
Not long afterward, the sound of footsteps came from outside the door. A police officer escorted Kathleen into the interrogation room.
As soon as Kathleen appeared, Hathaway stood up from her chair in absolute shock.
"It's really you, Kathleen!" she exclaimed in astonishment. Her emotions were indescribably complicated at the moment. "You're alive…"
Kathleen had not expected Hathaway to be there. Hence, she was stunned for a moment before she responded sarcastically, "Why? Are you disappointed that I'm not dead?"
"I didn't mean that. I'm just shocked."
Hathaway tried to explain. The words had just left her mouth when Kathleen's sarcastic voice rang out once more, "You should be shocked. After all, there has never been a mother like you who failed to even recognize her own daughter when she is standing right next to you."
Those words stabbed into Hathaway's heart like sharp knives.
Before she could say anything else, Kathleen rubbed salt into her wounds again. "It's normal that you couldn't even recognize your daughter. After all, your students are more important to you than your own daughter."
Hathaway broke down upon hearing those words. It was evident that Kathleen harbored great hatred for her. Yet, at the same time, she knew that she had been extremely negligent. There were so many similarities between Susan and Kathleen, but she had always assumed that Susan was constantly imitating Kathleen due to a sense of admiration.
"I have failed as a mother for not recognizing you, but I've never considered my students to be more important than you." Hathaway tried to defend herself, but Kathleen had no interest in listening whatsoever.
"Enough. Those words might have worked when you deceived me in the past. But, now that so many things have happened, do you really think that I will continue to believe you?" After saying that, she ignored Hathaway and turned to look at Rorion instead.
"Daddy, please make these policemen release me. I don't want to stay here for a moment longer." She begged Rorion and added fearfully, "I'm certain Nicholas knows my real identity by now. He will never forgive me or spare me. So, we need to return to Vienna as soon as possible."
Always Been Yours Chapter 1462-Rorion's expression was dark and grim. "I know. I will try my best to get you out."
At the same time, Edward hurriedly knocked on the door and rushed into the hospital ward. Then, he respectfully walked to the middle of the hospital ward and reported, "President Sawyer, we received news from the police station."
"What news?" Nicholas questioned.
Tessa glanced over curiously.
Edward answered honestly, "Hathaway and Rorion are at the police station, trying to release Kathleen on bail."
Tessa's expression darkened slightly upon hearing those words. She did not want Kathleen to be released. After all, she was not a saint. That person, who not only repeatedly targeted her but even tried to take her life, deserved to be punished instead of escaping legal sanctions.
Nicholas noticed the change in her mood. So, he took her hand gently and made a promise to her. "Don't worry. I will never forgive the people who harmed you!"
After he said that, he turned to look at Edward and coldly instructed, "Inform the police that I pursue this matter to the end! You should also interrogate the Vienna authorities thoroughly. Ask them why somebody who should have been in jail was murdered and escaped responsibility!"
Rorion did not know that Nicholas was determined to hold Kathleen accountable for her crimes. At this moment, he was trying to utilize his connections to release Kathleen on bail. It was just that the results were not ideal. After all, this place was not Vienna. He simply did not have many connections at his disposal.
Furthermore, the police had been informed about the Sawyer Family's stance in this matter. Therefore, they were naturally reluctant to upset or offend Nicholas.
"I'm very sorry. You are not allowed to release Kathleen on bail. There is concrete evidence proving that she hired mercenaries to commit murder. The victim has requested a strict investigation into the incident. Not to mention, she is suspected of entering the country under a false identity." The police officer handling the case sternly rejected Rorion's request once more.
Rorion was very disappointed by their refusal. Likewise, Hathaway was extremely anxious. She stared at the police officer pleadingly and asked, "Is there no other method to settle this matter? My daughter merely succumbed to her whims for a moment. I promise to keep a close eye on her if she is released."
"It's useless to beg me. Nothing will change unless the victim is willing to drop the charges." After the officer said that, he swiftly turned around to leave. He was afraid of being pestered by this family.
Unbeknownst to the policeman, Hathaway had already thought of a method to save her daughter after listening to his words.
That's right. If the victim is willing to drop the charges, then my daughter will not be forced to bear the criminal responsibility. As long as Kathleen apologizes to Tessa, then Tessa will be forced to stop pursuing the matter out of respect for me.
It could be said to be a fantastic idea. Unfortunately, the idea was vehemently opposed by Kathleen.
"What!? You want me to apologize to Tessa!?" Kathleen stared at Hathaway in astonishment for a moment. Then, she yelled furiously, "Impossible! I will never apologize to that b*tch even if I'm imprisoned for life!"
Hathaway earnestly persuaded Kathleen, "Kathleen, please calm down. After all, there is no denying that you are also at fault in this matter."
"Don't tell me to calm down! Even if I die, I will never apologize to that b*tch!" Kathleen yelled hysterically.
Hathaway looked like she was going to speak once more, but she was interrupted by Rorion.
Rorion glared at Hathaway in displeasure. "I honestly wonder whether you are truly Kathleen's mother. It's no wonder Kathleen refuses to recognize you as her mother. Ever since the accident, have you done anything other than repeatedly ask her to apologize to Tessa? Don't forget. It's all because of Tessa that Kathleen is in this situation!"
Hathaway opened her mouth as if to speak. Still, when she looked at the unrepentant expressions on the faces of Rorion and Kathleen, she knew that whatever she said would be in vain.
Therefore, she said nothing in the end.
On the contrary, Kathleen seemed to realize that she had some support when she heard her father's words. She yelled, "Daddy, get her out of here! I don't want to see her!"
Rorion naturally listened to his daughter. "As you can see, Kathleen doesn't want to see you right now. Please leave."
With no other choice, Hathaway could only exit the interrogation room.
Always Been Yours Chapter 1463-Arrested by the Viennese Police
Afterward, only Kathleen and her father were left inside the interrogation room.
Kathleen began to beg anxiously, "Daddy, you have to find a way to rescue me from this place. In the worst-case scenario, let's fake my death again."
"We can't. We've already used that method once. Nicholas will definitely suspect the truth. Besides, this place is not Vienna. There are many things that are not within my control." Rorion shook his head and rejected his daughter's idea.
Terror flooded her entire body. "What should we do? Nicholas will never forgive me! I don't want to be imprisoned!"
When she recalled her previous experience in jail, her expression became extremely ugly.
He could not bear to allow his daughter to suffer for her crimes either. Thus, he comforted her with a grim expression, "Don't worry. I will definitely think of a way."
For the next two days, Rorion was consumed by Kathleen's affairs. Although he desperately attempted to bribe various people into helping him with money, nobody was willing to help him.
Unbeknownst to him, Nicholas was monitoring every single move he made over the past few days.
On the other hand, Tessa couldn't help feeling touched after listening to the daily reports from Edward. "Kathleen has a good father."
Nicholas immediately understood the meaning behind her words and disagreed, "He is a good father indeed, but a good father who does not teach his children to distinguish right from wrong will only harm his child in the end."
In this regard, she had to agree with him. If not for Rorion's blind devotion and affection for his daughter, Kathleen would never have developed such an extreme character.
After she pondered the matter for some time, she suddenly began to feel worried. "It looks like Rorion is willing to spend a small fortune for Kathleen's sake. Do you think he will eventually succeed at bribing somebody?"
"Don't worry, he no longer has that opportunity," he sneered coldly.
Those words turned out to be the truth.
Just like the previous two days, Rorion came to the police station to visit Kathleen early the next morning.
As soon as he entered the police station, he was stopped by two police officers. "Mr. Rorion, we have received a request from the police in Vienna to place you under arrest."
Then, the other policeman placed a pair of handcuffs on Rorion.
Hathaway froze in astonishment.
Even Rorion was dumbfounded by the sudden turn of events. When he returned to his senses, he questioned them with a stern expression, "What crime did I commit? What gives you the right to arrest me?"
"According to the evidence provided by the Vienna police, you are suspected of helping Kathleen escape from punishment. Therefore, your actions are a violation of the law, and you have been charged by the Viennese police for your crimes." The policeman who spoke earlier gave a brief explanation of the situation.
Rorion felt as though there was something stuck in his throat, preventing him from uttering a single word. Nevertheless, he was not happy with the outcome. His gaze landed upon Hathaway, and he came up with a plan in his heart.
"Hathaway, if you want your daughter to survive, find that woman and ask her to release us immediately. Otherwise, you will lose your daughter completely for the rest of your life."
After he finished speaking, the policeman quickly took him away. They probably felt that he was too noisy.
Hathaway was left alone in the corridor. She mulled over Rorion's words and entered the interrogation room in a daze.
Inside the interrogation room, Kathleen instantly frowned at the sight of Hathaway entering the room alone and asked, "Why are you here alone? Where is Daddy?"
Hathaway returned to her senses and gazed at Kathleen with a profound look without saying anything.
Kathleen could not stand being the recipient of such a gaze, so she rudely repeated her question. "I'm asking you a question! Where is Daddy?"
"Your father is wanted by the police in Vienna because he was protecting you. As a result, he was arrested and brought to justice." Hathaway did not conceal anything and revealed everything that happened earlier.
Kathleen was shocked. She muttered to herself in disbelief, "How can Daddy be arrested? He's so powerful."
Hathaway stood nearby and calmly said, "Why wouldn't he? He was protecting you, which is a criminal act."
Kathleen could not refute those words.
For a time, the interrogation room was silent.
Hathaway gazed at her daughter, whose complexion was very poor, and suddenly implored, "Do you want to be released? Do you want to save your father?"
"Give up on that idea. Even if I am imprisoned, I will never apologize to Tessa!" Kathleen snarled through gritted teeth and glared at her mother with sheer unadulterated hatred in her eyes.
Hathaway was indescribably disappointed to see her daughter, who had not repented for her actions even now.
Always Been Yours Chapter 1464-If Kathleen were willing to apologize to Tessa, she would beg for Tessa's forgiveness even if she had to put her reputation on the line. But now, it was clear that there was no room to turn things around for the better, so she could only leave the police station with a heavy heart.
In the hospital ward, Edward recounted everything that took place at the police station.
Tessa breathed a sigh of relief the instant she heard that Kathleen was finally apprehended by the authorities. "That's great. She has to face the consequences for the actions she has taken."
Nicholas nodded in agreement, and Edward added tentatively, "But I think Miss Hathaway intends to ask for a favor from you to let Kathleen off the hook."
"A favor? From me?" This news caught Tessa a little off guard, and she paused for a few seconds. Frankly, she had assumed that Hathaway would pay her a visit regarding Kathleen's issue, but Hathaway didn't show up after three days. So, Tessa figured that she wouldn't do anything of the sort.
Edward was unaware of her thoughts as he nodded and said, "I heard that Miss Hathaway has asked Kathleen to apologize to you at least twice, but Kathleen refused."
"If that's true, then she's definitely not coming," Tessa concluded based on her understanding of Hathaway.
Since Kathleen refused to come clean, Hathaway would definitely not plead her case with Tessa. After all, Tessa was the victim of Kathleen's malicious schemes.
In fact, everything was just as Tessa expected. After Kathleen vehemently refused to see reason, Hathaway immediately cast aside any thoughts of discussing this matter with Tessa. Instead, it seemed as though she intended to wash her hands off this matter, preparing to return home.
However, she still wanted to make a trip to the hospital to visit Tessa before she left. Thus, on the day of her departure, she found herself standing before Tessa's ward and cautiously knocking on the door.
"Come in." Tessa's gentle voice echoed from inside the room.
Hathaway forced down her anxiety as she pushed the door open. She was greeted by a pale-faced Tessa sitting on the bed with her head wrapped with bandages.
A startled Tessa looked at her and greeted, "Hello, Miss Hathaway."
"I'm merely here to visit you. How is your recovery?" Hathaway nodded lightly in return and passed a bouquet of fresh flowers to Tessa. She had brought them as a gift and also as a token of apology.
Tessa graciously accepted the flowers and said with a soft smile, "I'm recovering quite well. The doctor said that I could return home to recuperate after staying in the hospital for observation for a few more days." Then, she gestured to Hathaway to take a seat.
Hathaway exchanged some pleasantries with Tessa before mentioning the reason behind her visit. "Although I am here to check in on you, I can't deny that there is another reason for me to stop by here today."
The smile on Tessa's face froze for a brief second when she heard that because she thought Hathaway was going to beg on Kathleen's behalf.
While she was thinking of ways to gently yet firmly turn Hathaway down, she heard Hathaway saying, "I would like to apologize to you on Kathleen's behalf. It doesn't matter which incident it was, this one or the one prior to this accident; I want to tell you how sorry I am for my negligence as a mother. I know my apology means nothing after the harm she has caused you, but there's no denying that my inattention toward my own child played a role in this." As she spoke, she slowly rose to her feet and bowed to Tessa, choking on tears.
Tessa could only watch on helplessly. She didn't know what she should say in response to Hathaway's words.
Perhaps Hathaway noticed her awkwardness, so she explained, "I'm not saying this because I wish that you'll forgive Kathleen, but I'm merely expressing my thoughts. She has never once shown the slightest bit of remorse for her actions, so it's time that she receives the punishment she deserves. Otherwise, she will eventually make a bigger mistake if she's released now and lose her life because of it. Even though I feel sorry for her, I cannot bear to watch my daughter slide deeper into the path of no return."
Tessa nodded gently after hearing Hathaway's side of the story. "It's great that you're so open-minded, but you don't have to apologize to me. At the end of the day, Kathleen received the punishment she deserved after harming me. To me, although there is no denying that you two are kin, you're not her. Therefore, you don't have to come all the way here just to apologize for her actions. You needn't worry that this would affect our relationship, either."
In other words, she had never once considered placing any blame on Hathaway.
Hathaway was momentarily stunned to silence after listening to her reasoning. Then, she nodded bitterly. "You're right. One has to be punished for the mistakes they made." But, in truth, she only said those things while harboring a slim hope, hoping that Tessa would forgive Kathleen for her sake.
Always Been Yours Chapter 1465-Hathaway couldn't tell whether Tessa had seen through the underlying meaning behind her words, but from their conversation earlier, it dawned on her that her daughter paled in comparison to Tessa in several aspects. Thus, she changed the topic, saying, "Let's not talk about Kathleen any longer. I'm returning today."
Although Tesse wes surprised by Hethewey's decision, she didn't question it. "Bon voyege, then."
Hethewey nodded end chetted e little more before teking her leeve. Unexpectedly, right efter she welked out, she noticed Nicholes welking over with food in his hends, end she looked et the men with en unreedeble look in her eyes.

After thet, he stepped pest her end went into the werd with the food. The instent he entered the privete werd, the iciness on his fece melted ewey; in its plece wes e werm smile. "Heve you been weiting long?"
Hathaway couldn't tell whether Tessa had seen through the underlying meaning behind her words, but from their conversation earlier, it dawned on her that her daughter paled in comparison to Tessa in several aspects. Thus, she changed the topic, saying, "Let's not talk about Kathleen any longer. I'm returning today."
Although Tessa was surprised by Hathaway's decision, she didn't question it. "Bon voyage, then."
Hathaway nodded and chatted a little more before taking her leave. Unexpectedly, right after she walked out, she noticed Nicholas walking over with food in his hands, and she looked at the man with an unreadable look in her eyes.
At the other end, Nicholas saw her and gave her an expressionless nod as a greeting. Just when he was going to brush past her, she couldn't stop herself from calling him, "President Sawyer…"
"If you want me to let Kathleen off the hook, I think you would be wise to think twice. It's not the first time that your daughter has tried to kill my wife. There was the car accident she had planned, and to make matters worse, she decided to plan a kidnapping this time. If it weren't for Tessa's luck, I'd be arranging her funeral and staring at her gravestone. My children would also lose their mother forever."
His words made her so ashamed that all she could say was sorry. She honestly couldn't think of anything else to say besides that.
Nicholas inhaled deeply before saying calmly, "I'm not the one you should apologize to, and it's not you that the apology should come from." After that, he stepped past her and went into the ward with the food. The instant he entered the private ward, the iciness on his face melted away; in its place was a warm smile. "Have you been waiting long?"
Tessa shook her head. "It's okay."
Then, he efficiently unpacked the food and started attentively feeding her. After a while, she told him about Hathaway's visit in between mouthfuls, "Although Miss Hathaway didn't make it clear, I could tell that she wanted me to withdraw the charges, but I didn't agree to it."
Nicholas nodded softly. "You don't have to brood over this. Leave this to me and just focus on your recovery."
Tessa flashed him a sweet smile, and the days afterward seemed to slow into a routine. During the day, Stefania would visit Tessa with Gregory and Gordon. In the evening, Nicholas would accompany her in the ward. Meanwhile, Remus would send Ian to deliver nutritious soup every day after learning about her condition.
One week flew past in a blink of an eye, and Tessa finally regained the rosiness in her pale cheeks. The injuries on her body, besides her hands which suffered severe lacerations, were also recovering well.
Still, due to her injuries, she was not allowed to take a shower for almost a week. So, she couldn't help but feel incredibly sticky despite being well cared for. Thus, after dinner, she looked at Nicholas with puppy eyes.
Naturally, he noticed her gaze and turned to her with puzzlement. "What's wrong?"
"I would like to take a shower," she said honestly.
He was aware that she placed hygiene very high on her priority list, and one week was already a test to her limits. So, he thought about it and said hesitantly, "But your hands haven't recovered yet, and the doctor has made it very clear that you aren't allowed to get in contact with water for the time being."
"I'll wrap them in plastic bags," she suggested piteously.
However, he thought that the idea was unreliable. "No."
"But I would like a shower." She stared at him with puppy eyes, and he eventually found himself caving in. Finally, he relented and said, "Okay. But I'll be helping you out."
"What?" At first, she was stunned, and then embarrassment washed over her. "Let's drop the idea." Even though they had done all sorts of intimate acts and even had children together, it still made her embarrassed to think that she had to face him without clothes on.
Under the light, her delicate face turned pinkish due to her bashfulness. Nicholas couldn't help but find her adorable. In the end, he couldn't stop himself from approaching her and asked in a deep, husky voice, "Why are you still so shy?"
"No, I'm not," she denied hotly.
He chuckled as he gazed at her with unabashed fondness. Then, he gently pulled her into his arms and kissed her. The unguarded Tessa closed her eyes after a second and draped her arms around his neck, returning his kiss.
Their kiss was passionate and deep, and the temperature in the room gradually rose. They didn't know how long it lasted until Nicholas finally released her, breathing heavily.
Always Been Yours Chapter 1466-At the moment, Tessa lay limply in his embrace with an alluring look in her eyes. After a few minutes, their breathing gradually slowed as they enjoyed the silence together. Then, Nicholas picked her up and headed into the bathroom for a shower.
For the next few days, Tessa obediently recuperated in the ward. However, when she saw that the injuries on her forehead had turned into scabs, she could no longer hide the impatience in her heart. Nonetheless, Nicholas was still concerned, so he requested a complete body checkup from the doctor.
After a series of checks, the doctor concluded, "Mrs. Sawyer has recovered very well. All will be well as long as she continues to take care of herself."
Nicholas listened carefully to all the advice given by the doctor and asked Edward to take care of the discharge paperwork that same afternoon. Just when they were ready to leave, Timothy came with Sabrina for a visit.
When they entered the ward, and Timothy saw the packed bags, he asked in surprise, "Are you ready to leave the hospital, Tess? Why didn't you give me a call so I could help you out? It's a good thing I came over, or I would have missed this." He even shot a reproachful look at Tessa.
A sheepish smile appeared on her face. "I have Nicholas around, so there's nothing for you to help out with, anyway."
"That may be true, but I'm still your brother and should be here when you're getting discharged, which is a big thing," Timothy grumbled and started to help her pack while Sabrina started chatting with her.
An hour later, they all left the hospital and returned to Tessa and Nicholas' place. As Tessa was still far from tired, she decided to have a little talk with her brother in the living room.
"Why did you guys come over today?" she asked, looking at Timothy curiously.
It wasn't a big deal, so he answered honestly, "Previously, when you were kidnapped, I asked for two weeks' leave from my university lecturer and delayed my boarding program abroad. Now that you're better and my leave is coming to an end, I've already bought a plane ticket abroad tonight and will attend classes starting tomorrow."
"You're leaving tonight? Why are you in such a rush?" Tessa was utterly taken aback. She actually wanted to have a proper farewell party for her brother.
Timothy read her mind and gave her a lopsided grin. "I can return home earlier if I start my classes early. Then, you can throw me a party once I return with flying colors. It doesn't make a difference when the party is."
She reluctantly agreed with his idea and nodded. Suddenly, Nicholas reminded Timothy, "Take good care of yourself when you're abroad and let me know if anyone tries to take advantage of you."
"Then, I'll be in your care if that happens, Nicholas." It didn't seem like Timothy had any plans to turn down his offer, and Tessa added in concern, "Please do take good care of yourself when you're abroad. Remember to take your meals on time, and don't you dare skip your meals just because you're busy."
Timothy nodded obediently. "I know, and I will."
Then, she stole a look at Sabrina next to him and teased, "Also, now that you're dating Sabrina, you'd better watch your actions even though the girls abroad are bold and open-minded. If you dare do anything to betray your lovely girlfriend, I'll disown you as my brother."
Although Sabrina blushed with embarrassment at her words, she felt a warmth in her chest. Timothy, who understood what his sister meant, turned to his pretty girlfriend next to him and held her hand affectionately. "Don't worry, Tess. I won't betray her," he promised.
Tessa nodded in satisfaction. "Alright, since you're leaving tonight and there's still a few hours left, I won't be bothering you, lovebirds, and your alone time together. Now go on. I don't need you to stay here and accompany me," she urged, shooing them off.
Timothy didn't bother rejecting Tessa's suggestion because he did want to spend his last hours before the flight with Sabrina alone. So, after they left, he brought Sabrina to a high-end restaurant where there was no one else except them.
Sabrina had a guess in mind as she smiled sweetly at him. "Did you book the entire restaurant?"
"Yes, I don't want anyone else to interrupt us during our last hours together," he admitted, and the waiter arrived with their main course.
After that, a violinist showed up and started playing the violin while they enjoyed their meal. The lights in the room gradually dimmed, and they had a wonderful time together. Although the place looked empty, the atmosphere was harmonious and pleasant, which painted a beautiful scene.
Later, when they were about done with their meal, Timothy suddenly rose to his feet and approached Sabrina in a gentlemanly manner. Then, he bowed slightly and asked with mirthful eyes, "My beautiful lady, may I have the honor of having a dance with you?"
Always Been Yours Chapter 1467-"Of course," Sabrina accepted gracefully.
Just like that, they started dancing to the violin playing in the restaurant. When the music ended, Timothy tightened his arms around her and said in a soft but deep voice, "Promise that you'll wait for me."
"I promise, and I'll visit you if time permits." She raised her head and gave him a beatific smile.
He couldn't stop himself from lowering his head at the sight of her pink lip and kissing her. It was a passionate kiss, and none was willing to stop. They only broke apart once they ran out of air in their lungs.
She rested her scarlet face against his chest; her eyes were glassy, and her body weak. Timothy was also out of breath, but the look in his eyes was clear because he hadn't forgotten what he wanted to do.
Then, he took out a jewelry box from the pocket of his trousers and a ring from within.
Sabrina was briefly startled when she felt something metallic slide onto her finger. Hence, she instinctively looked down and saw a delicately crafted diamond ring placed on her ring finger.
Then, a husky voice whispered into her ears, "Although this isn't an engagement ring, I hope that you'll wear it so that you won't be harassed by some idiot."
She giggled as a sweet, blissful emotion swept over her heart. "I'll wear it every day, then." Even though she didn't say anything about the ring, her eyes never left it. It was clear that she loved it.
The separation came after dinner, and she sent him off to the airport. Although she was mentally prepared, it was still unbearable for her to see him leave when they were at the airport.
"Take good care of yourself once you're abroad and have your meals on time. I'll call every day to check on you," she reminded with concern, her voice filled with reluctance.
Timothy naturally noticed this, so he hugged her and kissed her on the forehead. "Don't worry. I'll take good care of myself and visit you during every semester break."
Sabrina nodded, and then she remembered something and wriggled out of his embrace. "Also, don't check out girls when you're abroad."
"Okay, I'll do as you say." As he gazed at the girl, who was fierce but cute at the same time, his eyes were filled with utter love and adoration, and they stayed sickly sweet for a while before it was time for him to board the plane. Sabrina watched as he boarded and only left when she couldn't see him any longer.
Meanwhile, Tessa received a message from Timothy that he had boarded the flight. Then, she set aside her cell phone, tilted her head at Nicholas, and sighed, "I won't be able to see Tim for a long time after this. I wonder if he can take care of himself when he's overseas."
"He's already an adult. You shouldn't treat him like a child," Nicholas advised gently.
Tessa cast him an annoyed look. "He'll always be my little brother no matter how old he is."
He chuckled in amusement, pulled her into his embrace, and gave her a kiss. "You're right. He'll always be your little brother no matter how old he is." Then, when he caught sight of his wife's lovely smile, he tenderly said, "Once you're better, we can visit him if you miss him."
She nodded and wrapped her arms around his waist, smiling happily. "I'm so lucky to have you by my side."
He returned her smile with one of his own as he hugged her and drifted off to sleep. For the next few days, Tessa recuperated at home while Stefania helped to babysit the kids every day. At the same time, Sabrina would occasionally drop by to see her and the children when she had time.
On this day, Tessa was playing with the children in the garden when her cell phone on the table started to ring. It was a call from Sofia, "Tessa, I heard that you were kidnapped! Are you okay?"
"I'm fine now." As she didn't want her mentor to worry, she didn't tell Sofia the gory details and guided their topic to something else. So, she brought up her concerns about the performance of Group Two instead, "But I'm afraid I can't be the guest of honor this time. I'm really sorry, but you'll have to look for someone else to be the opening performer."
"That's not a problem. Just take care of your injuries at home, and don't you worry about the band," Sofia replied, and they hung up after a small chat.
Always Been Yours Chapter 1468-Let’s Get Them Out
But at this time, Tessa heard Gregory's surprised gasp, saying, "Mommy, come quick! Gordon can roll over now!"
The instant she heard that she jerked her head to him in surprise and happened to see Gordon rolling over while kicking his chubby little legs.
Gregory crouched next to the baby and watched unblinkingly. "Gordon is so cute."
Tessa totally agreed with him on this and saw that Gordon seemed to be celebrating after successfully making his first flip, waving and kicking his tiny hands and feet gleefully, his lips letting out peels of delighted giggles.
That night when Nicholas came home, she immediately shared with him what happened during the day. "Gordon has already learned to roll over," she said, wildly gesturing with her hands as she described the scene to him.
He had a slight smile on his face as he listened patiently and started feeling curious about how Gordon rolled himself over. Hence, he couldn't stop himself from picking the sleepy Gordon out of the baby crib and placing him on the blankets.
The scene amused Tessa, and she said, "Why are you tormenting Gordon like this?"
"Even though this isn't the first time Gordon rolled over, I would still like to witness it." The look in his eyes turned soft, and he didn't want to miss any second of his child growing up.
She huffed in amusement and said, "There's nothing to witness. It's the same as Greg when he learned to roll over."
"But I've never seen Greg roll over," he said, and his voice turned sad. "I wasn't around when Greg was born, and by the time I returned from the military, he was already three years old. I wasn't there to see any of his milestones when he was young."
At that time, he didn't know how to communicate with a child, and his relationship with Gregory was rather strained. Afterward, it took him a lot of effort to get Gregory to familiarize himself with him.
For Tessa, this was the first time she heard Nicholas speak about the relationship he shared with Gregory, and it broke her heart. But at the same time, she was curious because she hadn't heard him mention anything that happened when Gregory was a baby. Eventually, she couldn't suppress her curiosity and asked tentatively, "May I ask about Greg's mother?"
He was stunned by the question as he stared at her and was at a loss for words. On the other hand, she misunderstood the look on his face and hurriedly said, "It's fine if you don't want to speak about it. We can forget I ever asked that question."
Although she said that, she couldn't hide the disappointment in her eyes, and he tightened his arms around her. Then, he kissed her on the forehead and assured her, "It's not that I don't want to speak about it, but now is not a good time. If you trust me, I'll tell you once the time is right." He looked deeply into her eyes, trying to convey his genuine sincerity over the matter.
Although she could feel he was hiding something from her, she didn't want to pry it out of him if he wasn't willing to share it with her. Nevertheless, that didn't matter because she trusted him.
Meanwhile, after Zachary and the others were arrested as they had their hands in the kidnapping incident, their families were thrown into disarray. Furthermore, Nicholas had already made it very clear to the police that he wasn't interested in meeting their families either. So, their families couldn't even meet them, no matter what means they resorted to.
Tonight, those left behind gathered for a meeting. As the elder in the group, Madeline spoke before anyone else could, "Now, Zachary and the other decision-makers in our families have been sent to the police station by Nicholas. In my personal opinion, I think we should negotiate with him tomorrow in order to get them out of that cell. Even if it means that we have to use all our assets in exchange for their release."
After she said that, everyone broke into a clamor, "If we hand over all our assets to Nicholas, we'll be in no position to ever voice our objections in the Sawyer Family!"
"Exactly. More importantly, will Nicholas let us off because of these assets?"
"Moreover, how will we live if we give them away?"
Everyone had their own opinions, but in reality, they couldn't bear to part with their assets. Madeline realized this but still said indifferently, "I know that none of you are eager to give up your assets on a silver platter, but without Zachary and the others, we don't even know if we can hold on to the assets in our hands. I'm sure all of you know this pretty well without me having to make it this clear. So, we might as well use these assets to exchange for their freedom rather than risk losing everything without gaining anything in the end. Once they're out, I'm sure we'll be able to get them back."
Always Been Yours Chapter 1469-The voices of the people who disagreed with her initially started to die down. Madeline was right; it wasn't news that Nicholas wanted to restructure the branch companies abroad. If it weren't because Zachary and the others, they wouldn't have been able to keep the companies that they owned now.
"Will Nicholas really let them go if we hand over these assets, though? Is he going to fool us again like he did the last time?" someone asked timidly.
A fierce voice boomed in reply, "I dare him to!" The person who said this was Felix's wife, Tamira. She had a ferocious look on her face as she added, "If he resorts to trickery, I'll send someone to trash all the branch companies abroad!"
Nobody argued with her because this was another way for them to vent their anger.
Madeline swept her gaze across the room, and when no one said anything against her suggestion, she announced, "Since we've come to an agreement, we'll negotiate with Nicholas tomorrow."
…
Early morning the next day, Nicholas had breakfast together with Tessa and the kids before leaving for work. Soon after he entered his office, Edward knocked and came in. "President Sawyer, the wives of Mr. Zachary, and the others are here."
This came as no surprise to Nicholas because he expected them to look for him when he sent Zachary and the others packing to the police station. "Tell them that I'm not free."
"Okay." Edward left after receiving his order and arrived at the first floor very quickly with the elevator. "Madams, I'm sorry, but President Sawyer is fully booked. Nonetheless, he has made it clear that he will do everything by the book concerning Mr. Zachary and the others." Then, he immediately turned around and returned to his work, ignoring the shocked looks on their faces.
Madeline and the others were left on the spot with dark expressions. It had never occurred to them that Nicholas would completely disregard them. Frankly speaking, they hadn't even planned for such a possibility.
"What are we going to do now, Madeline?" Lisa asked, turning to Madeline with a worried frown. "We can't negotiate with Nicholas if he couldn't even be bothered to meet us face-to-face."
"If he doesn't want to see us, we'll think of a way to make him see us!" Madeline hissed through gritted teeth and brought her sisters-in-law to Dynasty Gardens.
In the living room, Tessa was a little surprised to hear from Andrew that Madeline and the others were here for a visit. Although she didn't turn them away, she could already guess the reason that brought them here.
It looks like they want me to withdraw the charges against Uncle Zachary and the others, she thought as Andrew led the women into the room.
"Hello, everyone," Tessa greeted them politely out of courtesy, but the expression on her face was stoic.
As Madeline and the others were already disgruntled because of Nicholas, they fumed with anger at the look on Tessa's face. Still, they knew that they were the ones coming here to ask for a favor, so they restrained their temper and tried their best to appear friendly on the surface.
"Tessa, we're here today only because we're out of wits. I know that Zachary and the others have done you wrong, and we're willing to make up for it. But, of course, we wouldn't let you go on your way empty-handed. We'll hand over the administrative rights of the branch companies in Europe to the headquarters as long as Nicholas gives the green light on their release," Madeline began, trying to persuade Tessa as she placed all her chips on the table.
Lisa chirped in as well, "Furthermore, you're alright now, aren't you? We're a family, after all, not enemies. Tell Nicholas to let his uncles and granduncles go, and we'll cooperate with him on all the businesses abroad."
Tessa was so furious by their shamelessness that she sneered, "Aunt Lisa, I simply can't agree with what you just said. If I hadn't tried my best to save myself back then, I might not have made it. There was a high chance I would have lost my life far before Nicholas could have rescued me along with the rescue team. Yet, you still have the gall to say that I'm alright now?" Then, she threw an icy look at Lisa.
Her glare made Lisa uneasy and ashamed at the same time, and before she could say anything, Tessa continued coldly, "As for the matter with Uncle Zachary and the others… Let's just say that you shouldn't hold your breath on it."
When Madeline and the others heard that, they could no longer maintain an amicable facade as they glared at her sullenly.
Always Been Yours Chapter 1470-"In other words, you're determined to sow discord in the Sawyer Family, huh?" Madeline questioned sharply. The way she worded her question was sly because it sounded as though Tessa was the reason the Sawyers were at odds with each other.
An amused Tessa looked at her. "Don't you think that's rather unreasonable of you to say that, Aunt Madeline? It was Granduncle Adam's and Granduncle Joseph's greed that led them astray, using the company assets for smuggling. They even tried to kill Nicholas to write off the whole matter. Yet, when this was exposed, instead of thinking of a way to make up for their mistake properly, they ganged up with outsiders to kidnap me, their relative, in an attempt to threaten Nicholas. I'm the victim, and here you are, trying to shake off all responsibilities and blame the victim. Aren't you ashamed of yourself?" At last, she added sternly, "Furthermore, everyone should be responsible for their mistakes."
Maybe it was because she had been with Nicholas for a long time, the air of authority she carried with her was terrifying, and it stunned Madeline and the others into silence. In the end, they went home without accomplishing anything.
Not long after they had left, Nicholas rushed home, surprising Tessa. "Why are you back so early?"
"Andrew called earlier and told me that Madeline and the others came here unannounced. I was afraid that they'd threaten you, so I rushed home," he explained briefly and looked around the living room. When he didn't see Madeline and the others, the anxious look on his face relaxed. "They're gone?"
"Yes, they are." Tessa nodded and dragged him into a seat on the couch. "You didn't have to come back, especially for something so trivial like this. I can deal with them myself."
"I know, but I can't help it," he said solemnly, holding her hand.
A chuckle escaped Tessa's lips, and she felt her heart warm at his words. Nevertheless, he stayed behind and accompanied her for a while before returning to the company. Once he was in his office, he called Edward and instructed, "Get the police to close the case as quickly as possible."
Edward nodded, and two days later, the offenses of Adam and Joseph were announced to the public. They were charged with smuggling, embezzlement, and murder and were sentenced to life imprisonment. Even though the sentence for Zachary and the others wasn't as harsh as Adam and Joseph's, they were accomplices and were sentenced to ten years of imprisonment.
Meanwhile, Kathleen, who was given the mandatory sentence, was denied return to Vienna after the court hearing, and on the day of her trial, the court was packed with swarms of journalists who heard about the news.
'The past great musician, Kathleen, faked death to avoid punishment and is now on death row after committing a crime.'
When the news was published, all the netizens were stunned beyond words. After all, it created such a buzz back then when news of Kathleen's death got out, and some of her fans even demanded justice for her death. Not only did they boycott the Hathaway Philharmonic, they even hurled abuses at Tessa.
But the person that should be dead had returned to life, and something so unexpected was difficult for people to accept, especially Kathleen's fans who had defended her. The deeper the love they had for Kathleen, the deeper the hate they had for her now.
'Now, I finally understand why Miss Hathaway refused to care about Kathleen back then. There was no doubt she was very disappointed in Kathleen.'
'I'm curious about how Kathleen was able to fake her death to avoid punishment. Also, is it truly confirmed that Hathaway was not in the know about this?'
'You can stop being so curious. BBC News already reported that she was able to pull this off because her father spent a huge amount of money to pay someone to make a mask that looks like the real thing. They also clarified that Miss Hathaway has no idea about this."
Once this comment was posted, several netizens immediately searched the BBC website to check their report on this sensational news. At the same time, there were a lot of journalists crowding around Hathaway's office. All of them hoped to get a chance to interview her and receive the latest firsthand information.
Mona frowned deeply when she learned about the news. This matter was also a big shock to her. Never in her wildest dreams did it occur to her that Susan was, in fact, Kathleen. Honestly, if she wasn't swamped with work, she really wanted to call Tessa and ask about the whole situation in detail.
Just when her thoughts were running wild, a band member suddenly ran to her anxiously.
