Ch. 1451..1460
Always Been Yours Chapter 1451-"No need. I'm going to wait here."
There was no way that Nicholas would even bother changing because all he cared about right now was Tessa. He wasn't going to let her out of his sight for something so low on his priority list.
Edward didn't press the matter and merely waited with him in the hallway, which became as silent as the grave.
None of them noticed how long it had been until the sounds of scurrying footsteps echoed in the hallway—it was Tobias and Stefania who had brought Gregory and Gordon along. They were a mess as they rushed over to them.
"Nicholas, I heard that Tessa is injured!"
"What's with the blood on you? What the hell happened?"
The elders asked simultaneously, and Gregory wailed with bloodshot eyes, "Daddy, what happened to Mommy?"
Nicholas was well aware that he couldn't sugar-coat the truth from them in such circumstances, so he told them everything that he knew at this point. "Zachary and the others colluded with someone to kidnap Tessa. They have set us up, and Tessa was pushed off the cliff by the kidnappers."
The information he provided horrified and infuriated Tobias and Stefania.
"How could they do that?!" Stefania hissed angrily, her teeth clenching tightly.
Tears welled up in Gregory's eyes, and he choked, "Is Mommy badly injured? Will she leave us?"
"No, Mommy will be fine," Nicholas said, assuring him solemnly.
However, Stefania was far from convinced by his words. How could a person be fine after falling off a cliff?! Still, when she noticed how sad Gregory looked, she couldn't bring herself to voice her doubts.
Nonetheless, her dubious thoughts were written all over her face, so Nicholas naturally knew what she was truly thinking. So, he added, "When she rolled off the cliff, she tried her best to stop herself from falling too fast in order to save herself. So, she suffered a lot of superficial injuries but not any fractures."
Stefania only breathed out a silent sigh of relief after hearing that explanation.
Then, Nicholas' phone started ringing, and it was none other than Timothy ringing.
He was already finished with his checkup at the hospital and worried about Tessa the entire time.
"Nicholas, have you found Tess?"
"We did, and we're at the hospital now. You can come over."
He briefly told Timothy the situation, and they hung up. Soon, the Sawyers heard the sounds of hurried footsteps in the hallway. This time, it was Timothy hastily hobbling toward them.
When Nicholas saw him trying to run with his injured leg, he frowned and chided in disapproval, "Do you want to worsen your leg injury? Why are you trying to run when it's already hurting?"
This bothered him a lot because Tessa would be heartbroken to see Timothy in a terrible state once she woke up.
But Timothy couldn't care less as he grabbed his arm and demanded impatiently, "How's Tess doing?"
Behind him, Sabrina followed closely and cast a worried look at Nicholas.
"She's in the ER now, and we don't know exactly how she's doing," Nicholas answered honestly.
A knot appeared between Timothy's brows, and a bewildered look flashed across his face when he saw the blood on Nicholas.
"What's up with the blood on you, Nicholas? Are you hurt?" he exclaimed and signaled for Sabrina to get the nurse's attention.
Nicholas stopped him and explained, "I'm not hurt. These are Tessa's."
When Timothy heard that, his heart shuddered and almost lurched out of his ribcage as he was instantly overwhelmed by guilt.
"That's a lot of blood… She's definitely badly hurt," he mumbled, clenching his fists so tight that the veins on the back of his palms were showing. "I said that I'll protect her, but she's hurt again."
Sabrina felt sorry for him and held his hand in hers when she saw how he was utterly overridden by remorse. "Don't think that way, Timothy. Nobody could have guessed this was going to happen."
Timothy pursed his lips together but remained stonily silent. Stefania even tried to comfort him, saying, "You've done the best you can, Timothy. But those people are simply too vicious."
Right after she said that, they heard a muffled thud, which was the sound of Nicholas punching into the whitewashed wall. His eyes were grim and solemn, and his jaw was tight, showing that he was barely restraining his fury. "All these have nothing to do with you. I'm the one who didn't protect her well and caused her to be hurt every time. Furthermore, I knew that there was hidden danger, but no matter how I tried to avoid it, I still left a window of opportunity for these people to take advantage of. So, at the end of the day, I am the one truly to blame."
Always Been Yours Chapter 1452-An unreadable look appeared in Timothy's eyes at Nicholas' words.
Meanwhile, inside the ER, the doctors and nurses were treating Tessa's wounds as efficiently as possible. As she had lost a lot of blood, her vitals had dropped to dangerous levels at one point. Fortunately, after an hour of emergency treatment, she was finally out of danger, and the doctor hobbled out of the ER, looking as though a huge stone had been lifted off his shoulders.
The second he appeared, he was surrounded by Nicholas and the others.
"How's my wife doing?"
"Doctor, is my sister going to be okay?"
Nicholas and Timothy bombarded the doctor with several questions while the others looked at him with worry in their eyes.
The doctor understood what they were going through, so he didn't mind the rough treatment. Instead, he did his best to brief them about Tessa's condition. "The patient is fine now, but she's very weak due to excessive blood loss. She'll need to rest well after this, and it will be best if she does it through a nutritious diet."
His words set everyone at ease, and the tense line of their shoulders disappeared as they all breathed a collective sigh of relief. "This is great! She's going to be all right!"
"I remember we have a piece of century-old ginseng at home. Once she's awake, I'll have it made into a nutritious tonic for her. I'm sure it'll pair well with other foods," Stefania said, immediately making dietary plans for Tessa.
Tobias nodded in agreement at her idea, and Timothy said earnestly, "That's so kind of you. Thank you, Mrs. Sawyer."
However, she shook her head and answered, "You don't have to thank me. This is the least I can do. Moreover, she's in this situation now because of the in-fighting within the Sawyer Family."
Nicholas didn't pay any mind to their conversation as he kept his gaze on the doctor and pressed, "Besides being physically weak, is there anything else I should pay attention to?"
"Yes." The doctor nodded and told him the points he had to watch out for about Tessa. "She has a minor head concussion and will experience symptoms such as dizziness and nausea once she's awake. At that time, make sure she doesn't move around too often. Also, her palms are severely grazed. We've cleaned the wounds, but they shouldn't get in contact with water for the time being. All the other cuts are not an issue, and they should be fine in a few days if the bandages are changed accordingly."
Once they heard the doctor's advice, the others were well and truly reassured. Meanwhile, Nicholas took everything he said to heart, making a mental note to pay extra attention to them.
A few minutes later, Tessa was transferred to a ward, and all the wounds and cuts on her had been attended to.
When Nicholas and the others entered, the first thing that caught their attention was the bandages wrapped around her head. Besides, her face was as white as a ghost due to blood loss. She was akin to a silent doll as she lay on the bed, but everyone's heart wrenched at the sight.
Gregory darted to the side of the bed, gently held her hand, and sniffled. "Mommy…" he called in a whisper.
Tessa couldn't answer, but that didn't bother him as he stayed by her side quietly.
As time passed by and she showed no signs of waking up, Gordon, who had been sleeping soundly, woke up from hunger and started squirming and squealing in Stefania's arms.
Stefania immediately rose to her feet with the baby in her embrace and said that she would return home with the children. "I don't think Tessa will wake up tonight, so I'll be bringing the children home with me. I'll visit tomorrow morning."
In addition, it was getting late, and Gordon was still a baby; staying at the hospital for a long time wouldn't do any good for his tiny body.
Nicholas nodded. "I'll get someone to drop you off."
Then, he turned to Kieran and passed the task of arranging for someone to drop their parents home to him.
Kieran didn't say anything and started to make the arrangements when Gregory became difficult. "I don't want to go. I wanna stay and wait for Mommy to wake up." He held Tessa's hand tightly with an unwavering gleam in his eyes, showing Stefania how determined he was. So, she didn't force him to go with her because she knew how worried he was and only went home with Gordon, leaving Timothy and Sabrina in the ward.
Timothy's exhaustion was as clear as day, especially to Nicholas. Still, Timothy insisted on staying behind, which prompted Nicholas to say, "I'll be here by Tessa's side. You should return to your ward and rest. I'll send someone to inform you once she's awake."
"I'll wait here a little longer," Timothy insisted bullheadedly as he declined the suggestion without a single moment of thought. The unease in his heart could only be eliminated once he saw that his sister was awake.
Although Nicholas knew what was on his mind, he advised, "I know you're worried about Tessa, but you're not doing very well yourself. Are you sure you want your sister to worry about you the minute she wakes up?"
Always Been Yours Chapter 1453-The point he brought up made Timothy waver, and Sabrina went along with Nicholas, saying, "If you're still worried about your sister, we can request for them to change your ward to the one next door. Then, you can visit her right after she's awake."
She was genuinely concerned about his injury, but it didn't feel right for her to say anything because Tessa was still unconscious. In the end, Timothy returned to his ward, successfully persuaded by the two, but he was still in low spirits.
Sabrina sensed his negative emotions literally oozing out of him as she scooted to his side and gently asked, "You're still worried about Tessa, aren't you? But I think you don't have to be so worried. President Sawyer loves her dearly. I'm sure he won't let anything happen to her."
"I know that with Nicholas around, Tess will be fine," he started in despair. "What bothers me is, no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to protect Tess properly. If it were Nicholas who was by her side today, she wouldn't have to go through any of this. In conclusion, I'm just not strong enough."
The look of dismay and guilt on the man she loved broke her heart, and she took him into her arms as she stroked his back gently to reassure him, "You've already done your best. What happened this time is not your fault. Who could have guessed that those people would choose to act at this time?"
Timothy didn't say a word and returned her hug by wrapping his arms around her tightly. Nonetheless, she could feel his dejection and melancholy through his embrace, and she comforted him again, "From now on, we'll do our best to be strong so that others will think twice before trying to set us up again."
In the other ward, Nicholas gazed at the frail and pale Tessa on the bed, and the air around him started to turn cold and murderous.
Kieran could clearly sense the overwhelming fury that was brewing inside his brother, although he was a good distance away from him. As a result, a shiver ran down his spine at the thought of anyone facing Nicholas' wrath. My god, Nicholas is terrifying right now! he thought and tried his best to become a wallflower lest he annoyed him.
Just then, Nicholas' cool voice echoed into his ears. "Has Edward returned yet?"
"I haven't seen him around, so I guess not," Kieran promptly answered after a tremor passed through his body.
As it turned out, Nicholas had sent Edward to the police station to find out more about the kidnappers when Tessa was still in the ER.
"What's taking him so long?" Nicholas grumbled with a frown.
"Should I call him and ask how it's going?" Kieran suggested, whisking out his phone. He was about to make the call when Edward made his appearance.
"Good evening, President Sawyer and Master Kieran."
After he greeted them, Nicholas asked emotionlessly, "Did you find out who the mastermind is?"
"Yes, it's the same woman Zachary mentioned earlier," Edward answered, looking hesitant. "But we've investigated this woman and couldn't find any information about her. Even the police couldn't find out anything about this person."
"There's actually a person that you guys can't find anything about?" Kieran exclaimed, looking at Edward in bewilderment.
Edward smiled bitterly and turned to Nicholas, awaiting his order.
Frankly, Nicholas found this odd as well. If his men couldn't find out anything, that may be because they lacked intelligence. Yet, even the police had no information… Then there could only be one possibility.
"Show me the picture of that woman again."
Edward nodded and quickly handed him the printed picture. Nicholas took it from him and scrutinized the picture carefully.
Next to them, Kieran stepped closer and gasped in surprise.
Although the woman in the picture looked fresh-faced at one glance, after looking at her for a long time, the features on her face didn't seem like they were quite right.
Nicholas heard his surprise, and his head snapped toward Kieran as he questioned, "What did you discover?"
Kieran scrunched his eyebrows in confusion as he voiced out his guess, "Well, I can't say that I've discovered anything, but I just feel that this woman's features seem odd like she had been under the knife before. But, at the same time, it doesn't seem that way either. Maybe she merely fine-tuned her features a little?"
Nicholas didn't say a thing, but his eyes narrowed as he observed the features of the woman in the picture again and noticed that there was indeed something unnatural about them. "Edward, show this picture to a plastic surgeon."
Always Been Yours Chapter 1454-No More Genius Musician
As Nicholas spoke, he passed the picture back to Edward, but right at this point, he saw something amiss from the corners of his eyes. So, he paused and snatched the picture back, causing Edward to stare at him in puzzlement.
"What's the matter, President Sawyer?"
Nicholas ignored him and went under the light to study the picture while Edward and Kieran shared a look with each other.
"Did you notice something, Nicholas?" Kieran asked curiously.
Nicholas swiveled his head to Kieran, took a glance at him, and passed him the picture while pointing to a spot. "Look here. Does it look like she has something plastered here?"
"Let me take a look," Kieran said, took the picture from him, and observed it under the light, where Edward came to check it out as well.
Then, he said affirmatively, "There is something plastered there. No wonder I feel that there's something amiss with her features. That's because these are not her real features."
"That means this woman has disguised herself, and that's why we can't find out anything about her," Nicholas said grimly as his dark eyes roiled with cold fury.
Edward was startled by his statement. Nonetheless, he frowned and murmured helplessly, "What are we going to do now? How can we find out anything about this person when she has disguised herself?"
Nicholas snorted. "We'll start with her height, then. Judging from the picture, I think she's about five feet seven tall. Get the police to start investigating this as well."
Edward nodded and was about to leave when Nicholas stopped him. "After alerting the police, bring some men with you to look for her in places like airports."
"I got it." Edward nodded firmly before dashing out.
Since this woman had already made her move, she would try to flee at the first chance she had. So, now they had to do all they could to block off her escape routes.
Kieran stared at Edward's retreating back as he tilted his head and asked, "What should I do, then?"
"If you have nothing to do, bring some men with you and look for this woman as well," Nicholas said and didn't bother about him anymore as he returned to Tessa's bedside.
Gregory saw him coming and gazed at him with worry written all over his tiny face. "Daddy, when will Mommy wake up?"
"She will. Soon."
Nicholas' eyes were filled with heartache and affection as he brushed the hair away from Tessa's cheeks. Actually, he didn't know when she would wake up; he only said that so Gregory wouldn't become upset. Gregory noticed that his father was utterly focused on Tessa, so he pressed his lips together as he continued to keep vigil by her bedside.
Kieran knew that there wasn't a point in him hanging around here as he watched the dispirited father and son. Thus, he spun on his heel and decided to make himself useful by joining the witch hunt for the culprit.
At the same time, in the airport, Susan had already bought the air ticket and was ready to leave, but there was still an hour until takeoff.
She curled her lips into a delighted smile as she sat in the VIP airport lounge while on a call with her father.
"Daddy, I'm already in the airport lounge and will be on the plane in an hour."
"Okay, I've already asked the butler to clean your room, and the kitchen has already prepared your favorite foods," Rorion said fondly over the phone, which made Susan even happier.
Rorion was aware that Susan had achieved what she wanted because she had carried out her revenge, but he was still worried. In the end, he advised again in concern, "You have to lay low before you board the plane so as not to let Nicholas' men discover you."
"Don't worry. I know that."
Susan knew full well that Nicholas wouldn't sit by and do nothing after Tessa was kidnapped. Furthermore, she would never make the same mistake twice!
After they chatted a little bit more, they hung up, and she set aside her phone. Then, she started idly browsing the news on the Internet until she came across a piece of news about Tessa and clicked on it.
As expected, this article was full of compliments for Tessa, and there was even a beautiful picture of her attached.
"The future genius musician, huh? Ha, this b*tch won't be a genius musician anymore!"
She glowered at the picture with malice and exited the browser so that her good mood wouldn't be affected by reading such news.
Always Been Yours Chapter 1455-However, when her mind kept returning to her successful plan, she couldn't hide the glee from showing on her face. She had even begun to hum as she bounced her leg in elation. Moreover, she had made all the necessary preparations to ensure that her scheme would be executed beautifully. She figured that it was true that preparation was the key to success, as the results were just as she wanted them to be, which made her highly satisfied. It was especially so when she learned that Tessa had fallen off the cliff. After she learned of Tessa's demise, a great deal of the resentment that she harbored in the very depths of her heart dissipated.
And now, she planned to return home and return to being a violinist.
Just the thought that she could return to the stage that she loved so deeply filled her with contentment. After that, she even took out her makeup and dolled herself beautifully because she wanted to go home in glory!
About forty minutes later, Edward arrived at the airport with some men, and by now, Susan was at the security checks to board the plane.
Perhaps it was because the holiday season was just over, there were more people than usual at the airport now. Thus, it would be impossible for Edward and his men to find someone because it was akin to looking for a needle in the haystack through such a crowd.
So, when Edward realized the problem with their search, he stopped and instructed his subordinates, "Pair up in a group and spread out to search in the direction of north, south, east, and west.
After that, he said to two other men, "Come with me to the security check counters."
The security check was the last hurdle at the airport. If that woman wanted to escape from the airport, she couldn't skip this part at all.
He wouldn't miss out on a single chance of catching that woman as he went straight for the security checkpoint.
There were long queues at the security checkpoints, and Edward started scrutinizing each and every individual carefully with his men. Susan was in one of the queues, and she stuck out like a thumb.
By now, she had already removed her previous disguise. She reverted to the beautiful blue-eyed blonde that she was, attracting the attention of quite a few people around her, especially since she carried herself confidently and even donned exquisite makeup.
She got complacent because she thought that Nicholas wouldn't look for her so quickly, but she still had no idea that the reality was a far cry from her assumption.
Edward approached the crowd and noticed her right away. He even thought that she looked very familiar. Thus, just to be sure that he didn't miss out on even the slightest chance, he drew closer discreetly to check her out.
Susan was completely unaware of the danger that was approaching as she kept playing on her phone. Regardless, the instant Edward had taken a good look at the stunning woman in front of him, he raised his brows in surprise. "It's her?!"
He recognized her, and, at the same time, a thought started forming in his mind. This woman has always been at loggerheads with Mistress and even tried to set her up a few times already. Furthermore, she had been staying here for six months and showed no signs of leaving the country, but now, she's leaving when Mistress is in trouble? I smell a rat, he thought and concluded that there was something fishy about this woman. Hence, he immediately beckoned for his men who had spread out.
Just two more people, and it would be Susan's turn to cross the security check.
Edward didn't want to waste another second and went to her right away. However, he didn't tell his men to take her away directly because he didn't want to affect others and attract unwanted trouble. So, he greeted her politely and intended to take her out of the crowd nicely and gently.
"Oh, what a coincidence running into you here, Miss Susan."
When Susan heard this voice, the smile on her face froze. She spun around in surprise, only to see Edward standing next to her with two bodyguards by his sides, and her heart skipped a beat.
Did Nicholas trace the case to me? she wondered in panic, but on the surface, she remained composed. "It's you, Mr. Jackson. Yes, what a coincidence. Are you going on a business trip abroad?"
"Actually, no. I'm here to look for someone under President Sawyer's orders, but I came over when I saw you. I have some questions for you and hope that you'll cooperate with us, Miss Susan."
Despite the courtesy he displayed, the tone he used was firm and domineering, which gave her no room for rejection.
Susan's expression darkened, and she became even more certain about her suspicions—Nicholas had traced the case to her!
Yet, she thought that it was odd that Edward didn't take her away at the first chance he had. She immediately reckoned that something was preventing him from doing so. When she arrived at that conclusion, she decided to play this to her best advantage. A light gleamed in her eyes as she put on a coy smile. "Mr. Jackson, as you can see, it will soon be my turn for the security check. Moreover, I'm not that close with you and have nothing to tell you."
Always Been Yours Chapter 1456-Edward stared down the woman who wasn't willing to cooperate and said coldly, "I'm afraid that's not up to you, Miss Susan."
Susan wanted to escape when she heard that. "What do you want? Move out of my way!"
She shouted indignantly before pushing Edward aside to go through the security check.
However, she was adding to his suspicion by fleeing. "Stop her!"
The bodyguards immediately came forward and grabbed her at his orders.
Susan was scared to death and called for help from the airport staff. "Help me! This person is sexually harassing me!"
Her shouts immediately garnered the attention of the staff.
"Mister, this is an airport. It's not a place for you to do as you please. Please leave with your men immediately."
"Leave immediately. She's not willing to leave with you. If you're not letting this go, we'll be calling the police."
A man by the side also stepped up, wanting to play the hero. So, Edward couldn't go near Susan.
She stood in the middle and looked at him with a gleam before turning around to the security check staff and asking, "Can you let me do the security check first?"
"Sure."
"No," Edward and the staff's voices sounded at the same time.
The staff hesitated for a moment.
Edward then rushed to explain, "This is a wanted suspect of the police. She can't leave."
"Bullsh*t!" Susan retorted.
She turned her head and anxiously urged the staff, "I'm not a suspect. That person just wants to take me back and lock me up. Please let me go through the security check."
The staff looked between her and Edward at a loss of whom to believe.
Fortunately, the police arrived just in the nick of time. It seemed that Edward also notified the police when he called for his men.
The leading officer held his badge and strode up to Susan and the airport staff. "This is my badge. This person is suspected of being involved in a murder. I need to bring her back to the station for further investigation."
The airport staff was momentarily stunned before he hastily took a step back. It was apparent that they weren't going to step up for her.
The other men also fell silent at the situation.
Only Susan was trembling in fear when she saw the police.
"What murder? I obeyed the laws. I didn't commit a crime. You have gotten the wrong person."
She tried to play dumb, determined not to admit it.
Alas, Edward saw through her act and snickered, "We'll know if we got the wrong person when you follow us back for the investigation."
She could feel her blood boil at his words.
At that moment, she heard an announcement regarding her plane's departure, and she immediately had an idea. "I told you I'm not a suspect. The plane's going to depart, and I need to get on. You don't have the right to stop me."
Then, she turned around, wanting to get on the plane.
As long as she got on the plane, she would be free. Nobody could do anything to her.
Sadly, reality shattered her wishful thinking.
The police stood in her way and coldly ordered, "Miss, even though you are a foreigner, you've broken the law here, and you'll have to obey them. Please follow us back for the investigation now."
"I'm not leaving! You don't have the right to detain me!" Susan refused to cooperate and arrogantly demanded that the airport staff let her get on the plane.
However, the staff ignored her.
On the other hand, the police's expression became ugly when they saw how uncooperative Susan was being.
The police officer's patience was at its limit as more onlookers gathered around them.
"This isn't the place for your smart little acts. If you're not going to listen, we have no choice but to use force."
Then, the officer glanced at his colleague before they forcefully grabbed onto Susan and took her away.
When they arrived at the police station, Susan was instantly sent into the interrogation room.
The police officer sat opposite her and questioned, "Where were you yesterday at 10.00AM, and what did you do there?"
"You're infringing on my privacy. I have the right not to disclose that." Susan refused to answer.
Always Been Yours Chapter 1457-The police officer frowned, slightly displeased at her response.
Susan then continued, "You said that I broke the law, but I've always been a good citizen and have not done anything out of line. If this is an accusation, I will sue you for slander."
The police officer's expression darkened when those words left her lips.
Then, he told her about the danger Tessa was involved in.
"We investigated the people around Miss Tessa and know that you have bad blood with her. So, you have a motive."
"We were indeed involved in a conflict, but I'm only here for vacation. So, how could you suspect me without any evidence?"
Susan acted as if she was furious and glared at the officer.
The officer was unresponsive and merely stated, "Even so, you still have a motive. If you want to prove your innocence, provide your itinerary of this period for us to investigate."
In the end, she could only give them the information without any other choice.
Thank God there was nothing suspicious with her recent itinerary. That was why she wasn't afraid of being investigated by the police.
At the same time, Edward went to the hospital to report to Nicholas after Susan was caught.
"I found her in the airport and felt that her appearance was an odd coincidence and suspected that she had something to do with Mistress' incident."
Then, he recounted what happened with Susan.
After Nicholas heard that, he muttered dangerously with a dark look on his face, "There's no doubt about it. It's definitely her."
Edward looked at him in hesitation as he didn't understand why Nicholas was so sure.
Nicholas saw the look in his eyes and said coldly, ''Even though Susan changed her appearance, her height didn't change. I've only seen her a few times, but I'm sure she's the person that contacted Zachary."
Edward felt that his words made sense.
However, a worry rose in him at the same time. "If it was her, I'm afraid she would not admit it, considering how she reacted in the airport."
"Then, think of a way to make her admit it!" Nicholas growled ferociously.
Susan was unaware of the fact that Nicholas' wrath was about to befall her.
After she explained her itinerary, she was in a rush to leave. "I've told you everything. Can I leave now?"
"Not yet. We need to verify this." The police officer then stood up to look for his colleague for the next step.
Suddenly, a strange thing happened before the officer. He gaped in astonishment, only to see Susan's exquisite face become so wrinkled as though the skin was about to peel right off.
The officer looked at her with widened eyes. "Your face…"
"What's wrong with my face?"
Susan instinctively touched her face, and the wrinkles she felt made her heart skip a beat.
Sh*t. It was time to change the silicone mask.
It seemed that the mask had lost its effect. Unfortunately, the materials her father sent her were detained by the police due to the special chemicals in them.
"Where's my luggage? Give me my luggage!"
Susan covered her face with her two hands and shouted with her eyes filled with remorse.
She had it all planned out. She was going to put on a new silicone mask when she returned home. She didn't expect to be detained by the police and even forgot about the expiry of the silicone mask.
However, she was filled with questions at the same time. She had a few more hours before the mask fell off. Why did it happen now?
The police officer was confused about her panicked state at first. However, he soon looked at her in horror when the mask on her face fell off because the woman before him had changed into a completely different person.
He realized that something was off and left the interrogation room to contact Edward.
"Mr. Jackson, the woman we caught in the airport turned into a different person. Please come over if you have the time."
"Turned into a different person? I got it. I'm coming right away." Edward hung up the phone and rushed to the police station.
When he arrived, he found the officer responsible for the case and asked, "What happened? What do you mean by turning into a different person?"
Always Been Yours Chapter 1458-"You'll know when you see it." The officer didn't know what to tell Edward and just led him to the interrogation room.
When they entered, Edward froze and was in disbelief. He saw a person who was supposed to be dead. "Kathleen?!" he blurted.
Kathleen whipped her head up and saw Edward standing at the door as her heart leaped to her throat.
This man was Nicholas' right-hand man. Now that he saw her, she couldn't hide her identity anymore.
That was the truth.
The police heard Edward's shout and turned to look at him. "You know this person?"
"Yea. She's called Kathleen. She was sentenced to jail in Vienna for murder a year ago. It's just that after being locked up for a few days, news broke out that she committed suicide. You may contact their police for more information."
Edward briefly gave a summary of Kathleen.
After the officer heard Edward's tale, he immediately knew that things were far more complicated than they expected.
"I may need your help in contacting the police in Vienna." Then, he left the room with Edward.
Kathleen looked at them leaving and slumped into the chair as though her soul had left her body.
She knew that she was done for.
On the other side, he assisted the police before hurrying back to Nicholas. "President Sawyer, I went to the police station. I finally know why Susan has constantly been targeting the Mistress."
"What did she say?" Nicholas shot him a glance.
Edward shook his head. "She didn't say anything, but her hidden identity was exposed in the station."
"Hidden identity?" Nicholas was bemused.
Edward nodded before he agitatedly exclaimed, "The police asked me to go over just now because the mask on Susan's face fell. Her real identity is Kathleen, who died a year ago."
Nicholas was stunned at the reveal before he remembered who Kathleen was.
Then, Edward said in realization, "No wonder Kathleen's death was weird. Even her burial was done far too quickly. It was a feigned death. She even found a way to be near Mistress. We wouldn't have found out if it wasn't for this accident!"
Nicholas' face darkened at that. He also suspected Kathleen's death but didn't expect the truth to be this…
Yet, what angered him more was that Kathleen escaped jail through a fake death but dared to take revenge on Tessa instead of living under the radar.
When his mind kept replaying the numerous times that she had tried to do something to Tessa, he truly wanted to be done with the law and kill her right there and then.
"What did the police say?" he questioned Edward sharply as a murderous chill exuded from him.
Edward answered honestly, "They're contacting the police in Vienna. They will handle it."
Even though that was the case, Nicholas wasn't the least bit assured. So, he ordered in a low voice, "Get your men on this. I don't want an issue like Kathleen to ever happen again!"
"I will arrange for that. They'll follow through the whole process." Edward nodded firmly.
Nicholas had nothing else to say and rubbed his temple wearily. Then, he waved his hands to dismiss Edward.
To his surprise, Edward didn't leave.
He looked over in confusion. "Is there something else?"
"Nothing. I just wanted to ask if Mistress has woken up."
He was usually by Nicholas' side. So, Tessa wouldn't neglect him as she would also bring him some gifts or snacks whenever she brought over a little something for Nicholas.
Nicholas shook his head. "She won't wake up so soon."
It wasn't easy to recover from a concussion.
Edward was a little worried, but he knew that it was best to leave it alone. So, he decided to focus on his work and left.
After he left, only she was in the hospital ward staring at the two people on the bed with dark eyes. It was hard to guess what he was thinking.
After a moment, he thought of something and sent a message on his phone.
Soon, his phone rang. It was a call from Hathaway.
Always Been Yours Chapter 1459-"Mr. Sawyer, what did you mean in the text message?" Hathaway's voice sounded nervous over the phone.
Nicholas held his phone and said lightly, "It meant exactly what it's supposed to mean." As soon as he finished speaking, there was a long pause on the other end of the phone. It was only a moment later that her slightly hoarse voice was heard, "Where did you find my daughter, and where is she now?"
"I think you should ask her father if you want to know where your daughter is. I believe he knows better than I do." Then, he hung up the phone without a moment of hesitation.
Hathaway went to find Rorion the moment she put down her phone.
Rorion came down to the brightly lit living room from upstairs wearing a sleeping gown. He stared at her in surprise as she looked out of sorts and frowned. "Why aren't you sleeping in the middle of the night? What are you doing at my house?"
She did not respond. Instead, she walked quickly to his side. "Rorion, is Kathleen still alive?" She grabbed his arm tightly as she asked eagerly. Obviously, the out-of-the-blue question startled him, and he denied it firmly in a heartbeat, "Why are you asking me this? You should know better than I do that Kathleen is dead. Didn't you watch her being buried?"
"But Mr. Sawyer told me that she is not dead. He's not the kind of person who would lie!" She shook her head vigorously, not realizing that Rorion's expression had changed dramatically because of her words.
"Who? Nicholas?"
"Yes, it was him!" She nodded.
Rorion quickly took out his phone to contact Kathleen as he felt that things were getting out of control, but there was no answer, and he began to feel uneasy. Hathaway, who noticed his expression, finally realized something was wrong. The news came from Nicholas, but how would he know if her daughter wasn't dead?
"Rorion, be honest with me. Is Kathleen trying to seek revenge from Tessa now that she isn't dead?" Hathaway gritted her teeth and demanded. He felt a little guilty when being questioned but also a little annoyed. "So, what if she is alive? As a mother, not only did you not seek revenge for your own daughter, but you also won't allow her to seek revenge for herself. What kind of logic is that?" Nonetheless, she was furious upon hearing the accusations.
"She is not seeking revenge. She's just being reckless!" She scolded Rorion angrily, almost wishing her daughter had died for good. But she could not just sit by and watch things unfold, especially since she knew her daughter had miraculously survived. So, she flew to Southend overnight.
Tessa only woke up in the afternoon the next day, feeling like she had been run over by a car. Her body ached, her head was really dizzy, and she felt nauseous. In the end, she couldn’t help but scrunch her brows in discomfort.
At this moment, Greg noticed that his mother had woken up and exclaimed happily, "Mommy, you're finally awake!"
Nicholas, who was working next to her, dashed over quickly upon hearing his son's exclamation. However, he saw her furrowing brow and immediately asked in concern, "Is the wound on your body still hurting? I'll have the doctor come over right away." Tessa did not object; she was really uncomfortable.
Soon, the doctor arrived with a nurse. After a thorough examination, the doctor concluded, "She's fine. It's just that her body is experiencing some after-effects from her injuries."
"Is there any quick treatment or pain relief method?" Nicholas interjected. He frowned as he could not bear to see his wife in pain.
The doctor nodded. "There are, but I don't recommend using painkillers. Using them too often is not good for the body."
So, Nicholas hesitated to request the doctor to administer painkillers, and Tessa, who sensed his hesitation, gently touched his hand and shook her head, "It's okay. I'll endure it."
He had no choice but to agree. The doctor then gave some instructions on what to pay attention to before leaving with the nurse.
Finally, there were only three of them left in the ward. Nicholas carefully helped Tessa to sit up while Greg brought her a cup of warm water. "Mommy, here. Have some water."
Always Been Yours Chapter 1460-"Thank you, Greg," Tessa smiled gently at her son before lowering her head to drink water.
Nicholas stood next to them, and his eyes were gentle as he watched their interaction. Then, he instructed his son, "Stay here and take care of Mommy. I'll go buy some food for her."
"Daddy, you can go. I'll take good care of Mommy." Greg nodded obediently.
Not long after, Nicholas returned with a bowl of chicken soup and fed it to Tessa himself. She felt a bit embarrassed but had no choice since both her hands were injured and wrapped up like a mummy.
Greg leaned on her arm the whole time. He was obviously still frightened from what had happened, although the situation was not as perilous as the previous car accident. In fact, Tessa noticed this and allowed the little one to cling to her.
Tessa felt far better after eating. So, she finally had the energy to start recalling what happened on the day of the incident and became curious. "Have you found out who kidnapped me?"
"I did, but..." Nicholas stopped short of telling her the truth.
"But what?" she pressed.
"But, well, you would never guess who it was," his eyes were dark as he replied. This made her frown and ponder who else would have wanted her dead.
She believed that she did not have any deep-seated enemies during her time abroad except for Susan.
"Is it Susan?" she guessed but then thought it was unlikely. However, she did not expect him to nod and then shake his head. "It is her, but again, it isn't her."
Tessa was confused at his answer. She was just about to get clarification from him when she heard him continue, "Do you remember Kathleen?"
Of course, she remembered Kathleen. Not only did Kathleen want to harm her child, but she almost killed Nicholas. She just did not understand why Nicholas would bring up this person. After all, Kathleen was already dead.
He noticed the bewilderment in her eyes and proceeded to explain to her while a splash of coldness flashed across his eyes, "She didn't die. In fact, she is Susan."
Tessa stared at Nicholas in utter shock. "Wait, you said Susan is Kathleen?" she asked incredulously.
He nodded sullenly. "That's right. If it weren't for us coincidentally discovering her this time, we would have been fooled by her and her father." Then, he explained to her the situation that Edward had investigated. She was at a loss for words; she couldn't believe that Rorion had resorted to such extreme measures, such as faking Kathleen's death and using plastic surgery to change his daughter's appearance just to clear her name. What's more, Kathleen, who had gained her freedom, did not even think of acting like a decent person and instead wanted to come after her for revenge.
She shook her head and sighed, "I really can't understand what's going on in her mind."
"It is irrelevant to us what she thinks. What's important is your health. The doctor said you're very weak and need to rest and nourish yourself. Also, you still need to stay in the hospital for a few days, although the concussion is not serious," said Nicholas while holding her hand as he tried to change the topic. He did not want his wife to be affected by those people who wished her harm.
Later that evening, the Sawyers and Timothy learned that Tessa had awakened and rushed to the hospital. When Timothy entered the ward and saw his sister's pale and haggard face, he felt incredibly guilty even though the incident had passed.
"It's all my fault for not protecting you well."
She looked at her brother's guilty expression and instantly knew that he was blaming himself for absolutely no reason. So, she quickly consoled him, "You did a great job. You still risked everything to buy me time to escape, even though we were faced with so many people. In fact, you have protected me very well."
Timothy disagreed, but before he could say anything, Tessa changed the subject. "By the way, were you injured that day?"
