The truth was laid bare too clearly.

With just him and Frostgrave, they had never been able to break through the defenses to begin with. Once they left Pole Star Hall, they would have nowhere to turn and no one to rely on. In the end, they would lose the opportunity entirely.

But if they stayed in Pole Star Hall, the Hall Master would most likely take full control and claim the relic for himself.

At the very least, though, there was still a slim chance they might receive a portion of the boon. No other path remained.
