Sidney didn’t move. He simply kept his head turned, quietly watching Cadence’s face.
A faint sheen of moisture shimmered in his eyes.
Gwendolyn stepped over from the corner, lowered her gaze to examine them, then gave a small nod.
“The reconstruction was very successful. The remnant souls fused with the bodies even better than I expected. There was almost no rejection.”
She paused before adding, “But they’re still extremely weak. In their current condition, they’ll need at least three months to recover before they regain even basic mobility.”
Jared let out a long breath.
It felt like every ounce of strength had been drained from him at once. His body swayed, and he nearly collapsed in front of the stone dais.
