With a smug smile on her face, Eloise looked at Cecilia and said, “Ceci, I think that dress looks better on me.”

Cecilia didn’t react. She showed no hint of annoyance, remaining completely composed. She replied calmly, “Then I’ll take another look.”

As Cecilia moved through the store, she acted as if she were browsing for other clothes, though her eyes were repeatedly drawn to the most expensive pieces on display.

Eloise had no idea what Cecilia was doing. She followed along innocently, watching from behind.

Anything Cecilia lingered on for more than a moment, she had the salesperson wrap up for her. From her perspective, buying the whole shop wouldn’t even make a dent in her finances, and the price tags on the clothes meant nothing to her.

Charlotte hadn’t expected this intense competitiveness between women. Pretending to be a little disgruntled, she said, “Ms. Escobar, why do you keep snatching every outfit my boss looks at?”

Eloise raised her brows in surprise. “Did you get the wrong idea? We’ve got tons of clothes at home. I don’t need to compete with Ceci over a couple of outfits. I honestly think these just suit me better.”
