James wore a somewhat gloomy expression. “Your words are a bit unkind, don’t you think? Although we didn’t raise you, our sister did. If it weren’t for her, you would have frozen to death in the snow long ago. Surely, you can’t forget that, can you?”

Cecilia knew they would say something like this.

She settled back into her chair, her eyes empty.

“My life hasn’t belonged to the Escobar family for a long time. I’ve already returned it to Paula. My existence now has nothing to do with any of you. If you’re planning to use this to manipulate me, I’m sorry, but I won’t be as naive as I once was.”
