Keep Her There

Hearing that, Stella felt a wave of cold wash over her. She was about to speak again when a nurse’s voice barked from behind, “Who gave you permission to use the phone?”

She hung up immediately and started randomly pressing buttons to make it look like she was just messing around.

“Scram,” she muttered under her breath. “I’m going to call Nathaniel. If he knew I was here, he’d come for me. And when he does, you’ll pay for everything you’ve done!”

The nurse came storming over, visibly angry. “You lunatic. How dare you use the phone? Want me to cut your hand off?”

Stella instinctively shrank back. “No, no, I won’t do it again.”

“You going back or what?” the nurse asked with a bit of a sneer.
