Chapter 31: Bonding after an attack

I see one of my brothers, at the brink of death and I don’t know what to do. Everyone is already awake at this point. I walk over to Moe and his eyes are slightly open. Getting on my knees I grab him by his waist until he is in my arms. I need to get him help first. He groans out in pain as I lift him up and carry him. Blood covers my body as I lead him to the direction of our infirmary. Someone did this to him and whoever did this came into the community. I see the bite marks on his neck. There are numerous, which tells me that Moe fought with whoever hurt him.

I stop in front of the infirmary and Volk, one of the healers walks out and his eyes open wide from the shock that is in my arms.

“What happened?” he asks as the same time grabs Moe from me. I follow him into the building and he places Moe on a bed in a room.

“I don’t know, i found him like this. Will he be alright?”

At this point, Moe Is unconscious and barely breathing. I can sense the life slipping out of him, he got bit by a vampire, I don’t know if he will be able to survive. Ogma, another healer comes into the room and the same expression is on his face. I watch them as they cut the clothes off Moe and start to clean him up and my heart breaks from the view. I don’t know what is happening and I don’t know why all this is happening but it is just too much. They are killing my family and I am supposed to be the leader, I am supposed to be the brave face but right now I don’t know what to do. I am terrified. How do they all look up to me when I don’t even know what to do.

Ogma leads me out of the room and as the doors close my heart crumbles in my chest. I might never see Moe alive again. He might lose his life today and there is nothing I can do to help him “We will do everything we can,” she tries to give me some assurance but it is not working. All the hope i had earlier is slowly dying.
