“Are you worried?’’ I ask Lanis because I don’t know what he is thinking. He looks at me from the passenger seat in the car. It doesn’t seem like he is but in my mind, I am kind of freaking the fuck out. If my bite, did that to Cassius, could it hurt Lanis in some way?

’’No, this is not something to be worried about,’’ he tries to assure me.

I raise a brow, slowly glancing at him with my side-eye. We are on our way to the hotel. Once we meet up with the Elis, we can figure out what to do with Cassius. He doesn’t have a lot of time left. The bite is slowly eating at him and pretty soon he will be dead and not my problem anymore.

’’Why not, what if this affects our relationship?’’

The fact that vampires might likely react to my bite could affect our relationship. How will it work if I become venomous to the vampires—especially when my mate is one? I am thinking of worst-case scenarios. The things that could go wrong. I know I should be looking at the positives. I mean, through all the bad, there have been magnificent good. So why do I keep thinking of what could go wrong instead of what is already right?
