Chapter 406: Izaak’s Past 6
In the soft morning light, Izaak woke to find Roseline peacefully asleep beside him. Her soft tresses lay scattered over the pillow, and with a tender smile, Izaak gently ran his fingers through them. He leaned down to plant a delicate kiss on her forehead before carefully slipping out of bed, trying not to disturb her slumber.
After bathing and dressing in his formal robes, Izaak found himself in an unusually cheerful mood. His heart light, he turned to Zerah and said, “There will be no work for me today. I intend to spend the entire day with my wife.”
“Of course, Your Highness,” Zerah replied with a respectful bow. “I will clear your schedule immediately.” With that, Zerah exited the chamber.
Izaak made his way to the royal garden, his thoughts consumed by how little time he’d dedicated to romance lately. He wanted to surprise Roseline with flowers, so he wandered through the garden, contemplating whether roses or peonies would please her more. As he knelt to pick a few, a familiar voice broke the quiet.
“I told you I didn’t want to be disturbed today,” Izaak said, his tone firm as he turned to face Zerah.
“Forgive me, Your Highness,” Zerah said, bowing again. “I am not here on business. I thought you would like to know that Prince Magnus has just arrived at the palace. He will only be here for an hour before departing again. Since you expressed a desire to see him last time, I believed it necessary to inform you.”
“Hm.” Izaak furrowed his brows in mild irritation, remembering how he never enjoyed being lectured by Magnus. Still, he had a genuine concern for his younger brother’s well-being, and the desire to check on him outweighed his reluctance.
