Chapter 266: Her racing heart
“Why doesn’t His Highness drink now?” Melody asked him.

Izaak lifted his head, his eyes connecting with hers. The two carried a lot of emotions in them for each other.

“It’s a painful process,” Izaak finally said.

“Yes, I am aware. But the pain will not be permanent,” Melody whispered. “I can endure it. I am good at it,” she added. Her heart fluttered as the back of his fingers traced a path from temple of her forehead, down to her cheek.

She looked at the ceiling and found the silhouette of Izaak growing under the dim candle lights. Melody lowered her gaze only to find Izaak’s eyes had darkened with a hunger that turned them a deep, unsettling red.

“Tilt your head,” Izaak instructed, his voice low and commanding.

Melody did as she was told, her heart thundering in her chest. The anticipation and fear mingled within her, creating a tense, electric feeling within her.
