Laura nodded—even if Frank did not cure the old man’s kidney failure, easing his pain was still good too.

Add some medicinal herbs on top of that, the old man would be spared much agony for a while, and Frank would have done everything he could.

Soon, the middle-aged man returned with pen and paper, and Frank wrote down the prescription while instructing, “Remember, take this prescription twice each day, on the hour after lunch and dinner. Don’t dump the sediments from the herbal broth-you can apply it to your hip as a heat pack to nourish your kidneys.”
