Maria smiled and nodded in agreement. “Felix is friendlier towards humans than typical stray cats. Perhaps he has been bullied by other cats, so he finds humans more trustworthy.”

She then glanced at Charlie’s handsome face, observing his lowered eyebrows, and thought to herself, “If he knew that his mother was still alive, he would be thrilled, wouldn’t he? For twenty years, he has believed that his loved ones were gone, not realizing that his mother is alive. Nothing could be more comforting than that.”
