Chapter 6143
Bernard Arnault’s series of actions garnered admiration and praise from around the world, but only among those employees who were not completely overwhelmed by the situation.
‘I thought I could take a break for three years, but I never anticipated that my time for happiness would be so fleeting, lasting not even a minute.’
Over the next three years, employees either continued to be mere figureheads in their roles or left to seek opportunities elsewhere.
Although being a mere figurehead at work meant I wouldn’t be as busy as before, I still found myself trapped by a schedule, bound to show up and clock out at specific times each day.
Furthermore, for employees in sales positions, a lack of sales would naturally lead to no commissions. In that case, would they only be left with a basic salary?
Most salespeople likely wouldn’t tolerate that situation and would instead opt to resign voluntarily.
This would ultimately help Bernard Arnault’s company reduce costs and boost efficiency. He wasn’t inclined to pursue sales anymore; if salespeople resigned on their own, it would be even more ideal. There would be no need to retain these surplus workers—each store only required a few security guards and one or two receptionists. The reception staff wouldn’t need any experience in sales or customer interactions; being polite and respectful would suffice.
