At her question, he simply shook his head.

“He won’t fall,” Thea exhaled, relieved. “He’s just drowning in guilt, that’s all…”

“Of course he won’t,” James replied, hands behind his back. “He’s my disciple—raised from a mortal by me. But…”

“But what?” Thea asked, suddenly tense.

James frowned, staring back toward the Blood Shadow Taboo. “I can still feel him. He’s watching us from the shadows.”
