“I’m sorry, but I can’t give you a demonstration.” Lith shook his head. “Forewarned is forearmed. I can’t risk any of you talking about my new abilities and having one of the Dead King’s informants pass that information along.

“I’d rather keep my cards close and maintain the element of surprise. The only thing I can add is that my sister has the same abilities. Tista, if you would.”

She rose and shifted into her Indech form.

This time, Tista manifested her powers in a counterclockwise sequence, and in a slightly different way. The Awakened were ready. Their eyes flared with Life Vision as they observed closely.

They quickly confirmed for the others that Tista was indeed channeling elemental power without consuming even a trace of mana—something only a bloodline ability could accomplish.

“What about your emerald eye?” Ryssa the Dryad asked. “Why didn’t either of you activate it?”
