I was attacking before I even realized what I was doing. My mate was trapped in the center of a death ring, and nothing mattered except getting to him. Megan! I screamed through the link. She flinched. Start funneling him power. He’s weak—he’s not healing.
Okay! She sprinted back into the trees. A moment later, I felt the pull of power, and my stomach finally unclenched. Rowan’s head snapped up, panic flickering in his eyes.
“GO!” he bellowed just as I tore another wolf off him and shook it like a rag. Sequan slipped in beside me, and together we started tearing through the wolves from behind.
“I said leave me!” Rowan roared again, ripping half a face off the wolf that tried to ambush him.
I didn’t answer. I didn’t even look at him. He wasn’t talking me into leaving him here to die at the edge of this chaos. “Stupid man,” I growled as I opened another wolf’s flank with my claws.
It took a few bodies before the pack finally realized we were gutting them from the back. A handful turned on us, but they were nothing compared to Sequan and me. The wolves around Rowan fought with precision—these weren’t random rogues.
“These are trained guards,” Sequan grunted as he vaulted over my back, tackling a wolf to the ground.
