Chapter 4029
The Upyr in front of her had no qualms about targeting defenseless humans or resorting to every dirty trick imaginable. Worse still, the corrupted Divine Beast cutting off Faluel’s retreat was also a Hydra.
Melinor was older than Faluel, but the clan had excluded her from the Harmonizer Project due to her lack of talent in both Forgemastery and the healing arts. That was also why she had betrayed her clan and sought Orpal’s help.
Melinor knew that even if the project succeeded, there was no guarantee she would find her path to Dragonhood before old age claimed her. She didn’t trust the clan that had already cast her aside to help her, and she trusted her own abilities even less.
“How’s the Harmonizer Project going, Fanny?” the Hydra-Upyr laughed. “I hope it’s a success, because unless you can evolve right here and now, you won’t live past today!”
“You’re insane, Melly.” Faluel’s heads bobbed and weaved through the attacks, staring at her former clanmate with a mix of disgust and envy.
Melinor’s body was no longer stunted. She had a fully formed torso, long arms, and even longer legs. Two membranous wings stretched from her little fingers to her hips, and a long tail tipped with a bone spike lashed the air in a frenzy.
On paper, she was the closest thing to the Hydra bloodline’s ideal after Ufyl. In reality, Melinor’s Upyr form was a stain on everything the Hydras’ pursuit of Dragonhood stood for.
