The Indech’s Swirling Wind neutralized Filos’ Frost Soul and allowed Tista to cast spells, but there was little she could do while the Jormungandr kept several tons of water between them.

Her strongest spells lost most of their power and speed long before reaching Filos, letting him dodge every attack without spending a single drop of mana.

The female Indech’s equipment functioned perfectly, while the Upyr’s gear was little more than dead weight due to the constant output of Frost Soul—but none of that mattered as long as he stayed out of reach.

I’m not vulnerable to cold in my evolved human form, but diving into a Jormungandr’s natural element would be suicidal, Tista thought. I don’t even know if I can keep Swirling Wind active without flapping my wings. And even if I could, I’d never keep up with a sea serpent underwater.
