Chapter 4012
Hoarfrost crept across the tower’s walls and seeped deep into Solus’s fingers, freezing them to the bone. She hid her hands behind her back before Jirni could notice the frostbite and ask questions Solus couldn’t answer.
Fuck me sideways. We’re surrounded, Lith thought, dispelling the enchantments he had tried to cast.
What remained of the Watchtower detected two waves of Frost Soul erupting from the center of the merfolk village, another surging in from the ocean, and a searing tidal wave of Fire Soul poised to descend from the sky.
If unleashed, it would swallow the entire oasis—except for Lith’s “home.” Orpal couldn’t risk dragging Elysia or Kamila into the attack, and his Upyrs deliberately avoided the Verhen residence.
The effect of Frost Soul on the tower was something neither Lith nor Orpal had anticipated.
The bloodline ability released by the Upyrs had infected the very world energy the tower relied on. The taint of corrupted Vurdalak life force spread through the surrounding water element like a disease, and the tower had no way to shield itself from the contagion.
Solus used the Hands of Menadion to draw pure world energy from the mana geyser, but part of it was corrupted the moment it surfaced.
