Ch. 791..795: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 791-795

Chapter 791

When she arrived at the pet store, she was greeted by horrible news.

“What? You lost it?” Ashlynn questioned frantically, “How? This is a pet hotel! I paid you and you promised that you would look after it! You are supposed to keep it in a cage, so how did you lose it?”

“We are so sorry, but our staff forgot to lock the cage after feeding it and by the time we noticed that, it’s already gone. We couldn’t find it.”

“So it’s already missing when you called me?”

“Yes.”

Ashlynn noticed the call history on her phone.

Corentin had her phone the entire time and she assumed that he had answered the call for her.

She had bought the puppy to keep her company through all the loneliness because her psychiatrist mentioned that pets would help heal mental traumas.

Ashlyn ran off to the streets, calling out to her dog along the way, hoping that it was waiting for her to find it.

‘I’m going to find you,‘ she thought with determination.

However, she could not find it even after searching around until the sky had turned dark. She sat on a bench by the streets and once again realized how horrible her life was.

She was adopted and was glad to have a family. Eventually, she had her own family with Salvatore, and all she wanted was to give birth to his children and live happily ever after.

In the end, she spent every moment in her marriage in pain, trying to escape Salvatore.

After his death, she slowly recovered from her nightmare, when he reappeared again wearing the mask of Corentin Lloyd, telling her that he was never dead.

Tears scrolled down her face and she immediately wiped them away.

She could not help but think if her dog’s disappearance was merely one of the key reactions to Salvatore’s appearance. Without her dog, she could not sleep peacefully alone in her rented apartment.

The next morning, she went out to search for her dog again and tried checking for surveillance footage of different shops along the way.

Some of the shop owners were kind enough to help, but most of them refused her request.

On the third day, she received a call from Anne, asking her to go to the office as Corentin had arrived.

Ashlynn paled, but she knew that Anne was right. She had to face her problems eventually. Salvatore was no longer the same person and with the power he held, he could easily track her down if he wanted. Meanwhile, she was all alone and had no means of protecting herself.

Ashlynn arrived at the office and when she opened the door to Anne’s office, she saw Anthony, Anne and Corentin sitting inside.

Her heart stopped when she met Corentin’s light brown eyes.

“Ashlynn, come sit down,” Anne said.

Ashlynn walked over to take her seat next to Anne, all the while keeping her head bowed.

“I’m glad to see that you are alright,” Corentin said gently.

“She said that you are her ex–husband, Salvatore,” Anne said, “and that you are only working with us because you want her. Is that true?”

“I’ve already told you why I’m working with you. As for Ashlynn, I only asked her to stay in Athetin because I like her. Even if I look like Salvatore, you’ve already run a paternity test, right?” Corentin asked. “I don’t mind having another one done.”

Chapter 792

Anne turned to look at Anthony.

Anthony did not have to be here, but he came over by coincidence, and Corentin arrived shortly after. Anne could not help but suspect if he plotted to appear at the right time.

“So you deny all the accusations Ashlynn made against you?” Anthony asked.

“I’ve looked into her past in the past two days and I do look a lot like Salvatore, but apart from looks, we are completely different. I’ve never even stepped foot into undeveloped villages like that,” Corentin said calmly.

Ashlynn could not believe what she was hearing and explained hastily, “He’s lying! That’s not true! You told me yourself that you are Salvatore. You locked me in your room and asked me why I betrayed you and sent you into prison. I’m not mistaken!”

Corentin maintained his composure at Ashlynn’s confrontation to the extent where even Anthony could not tell any fault in his reaction. “When I looked into your background, I found that you’ve been going to a psychiatrist for a long period of time after Salvatore was dead. Is that correct?” Corentin asked.

It was the truth and Ashlynn admitted to it.

“I’ve met with that doctor and he says you consistently have illusions and nightmares of Salvatore. There’s even a time when you called your psychiatrist, telling him that Salvatore is knocking on your door. Am I wrong?”

Ashlynn stared at him dazedly and was completely rendered speechless.

“Is that true, Ashlynn?” Anne asked.

Ashlynn tried her best to keep herself from shaking and nodded. “I was traumatized to the point where I was extremely paranoid, that’s why I went to a psychiatrist, but…he said that

I’ve recovered…”

“What proof do you have to prove that I’m Salvatore?”

“You have the wedding photo of me and Salvatore at your mansion. That’s proof!”

“That’s off. Why would I have the wedding photo of you and your ex–husband? It seems like your psychiatrist has misjudged and you have yet to fully recover,” Corentin said, “I think she has gotten into this hysterical state because your grandfather chased her out that day,

Anne.”

“No! That’s not true…”

“I thought that we got married because we feel the same about each other. I didn’t expect that you are still thinking of Salvatore and that you are mistaking me for him,” he said.

Stunned, Anne said, “You…you two got married?”

They had just met for a few days!

“Don’t tell your grandfather about this for now. I don’t want him to get upset,” Corentin said, “I’ve always been like this. When I want to do something, I don’t sit around and wait.”

Anne turned to gape at Ashlynn, as Ashlynn had not mentioned that they were married. Though they did not have a proper wedding, they were legally bound as man and wife.

“He forced me to. I didn’t want to!” Ashlynn jumped to her feet and grabbed Corentin by the collar. “Tell them the truth! Say it!”

Corentin simply stared at her without moving.

Anne hurried over to pull her away. “Ashlynn, calm down!”

Corentin adjusted his collar and got up. “You are already my wife now, but I’ll give you time to process this. As for the paternity test, you can send someone over to take my blood sample. I’ll be staying in the Eastern Hotel for tonight and return to Athetin tomorrow. I wish for this to be settled as soon as possible.”

He left after that and Ashlynn watched as he walked away, unable to control her emotions.

‘That’s it?‘ She thought, ‘No way. I need to divorce him. I don’t want this to end this way!‘

“Ashlynn, could there be any misunderstanding?”

Ashlynn glanced at Anne. “No. He’s lying. He is Salvatore. Ms. Vallois, you have to believe me. He’s putting on a show to fool us all!”

Chapter 793

“Let’s see what happens with the paternity test,” Anthony said authoritatively.

Anne’s expression darkened at his tone.

“Ms. Vallois, I’ll go back now.”

“I’ll contact you once the results are out,” Anne consoled her, “you look exhausted. You didn’t sleep well?”

“The dog I kept went missing and I’ve been searching for it…I think it’s gone.”

Anne scowled. “How long has it been missing?”

“About a week.”

‘There’s no way to track it down, then,’ Anne thought, ‘it’s likely lost forever.”

She understood that some people kept pets to keep them company through lonely times, so Ashlynn had to be devastated to have lost her dog.

“Maybe someone picked it up from the streets. It’s cute, after all. Maybe it will show up someday. Don’t be too worried.”

Ashlynn nodded and turned to leave, when Anne invited, “Ashlynn, why don’t you stay at my apartment for the next few days?”

“Um…” Ashlynn wanted to accept her offer as she was terrified by Corentin’s presence in the city, but she did not wish to trouble Anne.

“Hang on.” Anne took a pair of spare keys from the drawers and handed them to her. “Just take a taxi there. It can be easily spotted.”

Ashlynn stared at the keys in her hand with tears in her eyes. “…Won’t I be a bother?”

“It’s fine. I don’t live there, anyway. Just stay there until this settles down!”

“…Thank you…”

Ashlynn felt as though Anne had seen through her fear. As she stepped out of the building, she felt light-headed.

Her only hope was that the paternity test would prove that Corentin was not related to the Lloyd Family.

“Why are you here?” Anne glanced at Anthony, who remained seated on the couch.

She had thought that he was busy with work and could not understand how he seemed so relaxed.

“The paternity test results are probably going to be the same.” He ignored her question.

“So what Corentin said is true? Ashlynn is really just paranoid?” Anne could not accept that. She was the one who hired Ashlynn and she felt like she would have been able to tell if Ashlynn was mentally unstable. Moreover, there had never been any occasions when Ashlynn displayed any symptoms.

“And what if this Salvatore is related to Corentin?” Anthony asked. “There’s only one logical explanation to this: these two are related by blood.”

Shocked, Anne came to a realization. “So you are saying that Salvatore didn’t just randomly decide to replace Corentin, but he is a member of the Lloyd Family right from the start? Where’s the real Corentin, then?”

“Ashlynn had talked to Cory about this and he chased her out. Looks like your family holds a lot of secrets,” he propped his head on one hand and stared at her intently.

“My family? I want nothing to do with them,” Anne said. If the Lloyd Family refused to admit that Nigel was one of them, she had nothing to do with the family as well. She had not addressed Cory as her grandfather the last time they met either. “Honestly, though, if Salvatore hid Corentin away, could Cory not notice that at all? Is it that easy to replace his son?”

“He might be aware, or maybe not,” Anthony said.

Anne scowled. “What are you saying?”

“If both Salvatore and Corentin are members of the Lloyd Family, why tell one of them to replace the other?”

Chapter 794

“There has to be something shady there. The Lloyds ran illegal businesses in the past and had great success after they decided to go, well, legal,” Anthony said.

Anne knew the history of Lloyd Group’s development and everyone could tell how successful they had become, but that had made the situation more complicated than she had imagined.

Corentin was not as harmless as he wanted to appear.

“She is Corentin’s legal wife now. It’s best that we stay out of it,” Anthony said.

Anne was at her wits end. She did not know that they were married, but now that she did, she had no clue on how to handle the situation.

‘Should I force them to get a divorce or something?‘ She thought to herself.

“Corentin came here specifically for Ashlynn. He’s not about to give up.”

Anthony had only said a few words, but that was enough to shed light on what was truly happening.

The Lloyd Group was the head of Athetin and nothing good would come from crossing them. Anne knew the limits to her abilities, and considering that the Lloyds were still Nigel’s family by blood, there was no reason for her to go up against them.

However, if she let Corentin do as he pleased with Ashlynn, Ashlynn would not stand a chance to fight back.

“What if Cory Lloyd knows about this?” Anthony asked, “Or maybe he’s the one behind it all.” Anne was instantly rendered speechless. If that was the case, outsiders would have no place to interfere and

Ashlynn had simply been caught in the middle of it.

“You don’t have to lose hope that quickly,” Anthony said.

She bit on her lower lip, wondering if it was possible for Anthony to speak his mind at once so that she did not have to feel so anxious.

“If Cory is behind it, he will definitely do whatever it takes to keep the truth from coming out, which explains why he chased Ashlynn out. He won’t let Ashlynn stay by Corentin’s side, so just let them fight it out.”

Anne, too, realized that this seemed to be the only solution there was.

“Will Cory hurt Ashlynn?” She asked

“That depends on how capable Corentin is.”

Anne fell into silence and thought to herself, ‘If Ashlynn gets to leave Corentin under the pressure of Cory, there might be a chance…‘

At night, Anne made a call to Corentin and asked, “Can you let Ashlynn go? Even if you want to marry her, you need to make sure that she is willing to marry you.”

“Anne, it’s the first time I’ve met someone I like. I will treat her well. Don’t worry. She won’t find another man better than me.” Corentin hung up and finished the wine in his glass, before sending two photos to Ashlynn.

Meanwhile, in Anne’s apartment, Ashlynn saw the photos in her phone and froze with a panicked look on her face.

She immediately dialed Corentin’s number and asked frantically, “Why do you have my dog??”

“What do you think?”

“Please don’t hurt it. I’m begging you…” Ashlynn knew just how monstrous Salvatore could be.

Chapter 795

If he did not care about human lives, he definitely would not care about an animal’s life.

“That depends on you. I’ve sent you the address of the hotel.” Corentin hung up and sent her the address of his hotel along with his room number to her, before waiting for her to come to him.

Terrified, Ashlynn hurried to the hotel. Along the way, she thought back to the call history on her phone from the pet store. She realized that her dog did not go missing.

The pet store owner made a call to her because the stay period for her dog was almost over. Corentin came to the phone and took her dog away ahead of time.

Once she arrived at the hotel, Corentin’s subordinates led her to the room and opened the door for her.

Ashlynn walked inside and saw the man lounging on the couch, even the couch could not contain his towering figure.

At that very moment, she saw him as the way she knew him as Salvatore, free and

untameable.

He laid lazily with a wine glass in his hand. He stared at her with his amber–colored eyes and muttered, “Here you are.”

“Where’s my dog?”

“You sure are bold. Did you think Anne or Anthony could help you?” He questioned sharply.

She darted toward him. “What did you do to my dog? Or…did you already…”

“It’s too little to be considered snacks for my alligators,” he said, to which Ashlynn assumed that it meant her dog was safe.

“It’s in Athetin,” he continued.

Stunned, Ashlynn gaped at him.

“I was actually waiting for you to call the police on me. Why didn’t you do that?” He studied her face curiously. “You don’t have any proof? Should I offer you some?”

“… You are Corentin Lloyd now. No one will believe me. They will only think that I’ve gone insane,” she said.

When Corentin mentioned the fact that she had been seeing a psychiatrist, whatever she said before no longer commanded trust, and Corentin was more than capable to throw her into an asylum.

Ashlynn knew that calling the police would only embarrass herself.

“Which is why you shouldn’t have come running back to Luton for help.” Corentin sat up abruptly and stared into her eyes darkly.

Startled, she took two steps backward warily. “How can I stay after knowing who you really are? Even if I keep my mouth shut, you wouldn’t have let me go.”

“You should know that I’m the only family you have left. No one will help you apart from me. “He approached her and bent down slightly, before cupping her face. “Have you forgotten about how we rely on one another?”

She backed away from him and kept her distance. “Just leave me alone, Salvatore! I won’t mention your true name ever again. You are Corentin Lloyd now and you have your own. life. Our paths are not

meant to cross. I can tell Ms. Vallois that I only said those things because I was confused, okay?”

Corentin simply closed in the distance without a word.

Ashlynn continued to back away and tried to run away when she was cornered. He grabbed her by the arm and tossed her onto the bed.

“Ah!” Though the bed was soft, her head still spun from the sudden movement.

Corentin walked over and propped an arm against the bed to stare down at her. “I’m here to take you with me and you shouldn’t be here. Why would you bother Anne? Why does she have to help you when she is in a lot of trouble herself? Do you not care about what happens to your dog?”

Ashlynn panicked and immediately pleaded, “Don’t…don’t hurt it. It’s been with me for over a year and it’s the only reason that I managed to overcome my nightmares. I’m begging you, Salvatore…”

“Its life depends on you.” He rubbed her cheeks with his finger.

Her lips quivered. “Salvatore Yeager, you are the one who should be seeing a psychiatrist.”

“I’m the most normal person in the world.” He chuckled gently, despite the monstrosity of his true nature. “Your answer?”
