Ch. 1291..1295: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 1291-1295
Chapter 1291
“Don’t say that. This is all my fault. It’s my bad. I’m sorry…” Anne sobbed, her tears blurring the sight of everything before her.
“Lucas…has he done something wrong?” Joanne asked. She knew that what was happening had something to do with Lucas’s feelings for Anne, but did not know the details of the recent events.
“He did do something, but he only did so with good intention. It wasn’t wrong…” Anne could barely breath with the pain spreading across her chest.
Both Lucas and Anne could not possibly have been wrong, Anthony was merely a monster and crossing a monster could never end well.
“Mrs. Newman, I will talk to Anthony. Don’t worry.”
“Okay. Thank you, Anne.”
Anne hung up and froze in place dazedly. She had thought that the Newmans would survive this crisis and that Corentin would be able to deliver good news, so she called Corentin and asked, “Uncle, how are things? I heard that the Pinnacle Academy is closing down. Is there no way at all?”
“I reached out to my connections, but Anthony is too powerful. My sources told me that Anthony is determined to destroy the academy this time. Anne, you should stay out of it,” Corentin said.
“How can I stay out of it? Anthony is destroying the academy because of me!” Anne could bear with all the suffering, but not when she had caused others to suffer.
“I can’t help you.”
“…Alright. I will figure something else out…” She hung up, her heart sinking in despair.
In the end, she was left with the option to beg for Anthony’s mercy, which was terrifying on its own, but she had to try.
Joanne had never sought her help no matter what happened to the Pinnacle Academy in the past, and the fact that she had made an exception this time meant that the situation could not be worse.
“Mama?”
Anne immediately calmed herself when she heard her children’s voices and wiped her tears, before turning around to face the triplets, who were looking at her in confusion.
“What’s wrong?” Anne asked, “You want me to play with you?”
“Is Pinnacle closing down?” Chloe asked.
Anne’s heart sank and realized that the triplets had overheard her on the phone. Unsure of what to say, she said, “It’s fine. The academy is going to be fine.” She paused for a moment, before reminding, “Don’t talk about this to your Papa. I will figure something out.”
The triplets were far too young to be worried about this, as no one but Anthony had the power to alter the outcome.
At around five, Mia, who had been paying attention to the outside, heard a car approaching.
A black Rolls Loyce appeared in the Royal Mansion and Mia immediately headed outside to greet Anthony.
As Anthony was walking into the mansion, Mia took the opportunity to speak to him.” Welcome back, Mr. Marwood. Mrs. Marwood seems to be in a bad mood today. I think she got a call from someone.”
Anthony stilled and glanced at Mia coldly.
Mia kept her head bowed. “Mrs. Marwood was crying, too. I didn’t hear what she said on the phone, though.”
“Where is she?” Anthony questioned sharply.
“In the backyard with the children,” Mia said.
When she looked up, she noticed that Anthony was already heading toward the backyard and felt proud of being able to cause trouble for Anne; she was determined to alert Anthony whatever she saw in the mansion from this point onward.
“Papa is back!”
Anne turned around and saw Anthony walking over. Her eyes darted away as her mind drifted to focus on matters concerning the Pinnacle Academy.
“Papa!” Chloe leaped her way over and opened her arms to demand a hug.
Anthony lifted her up and propped an arm underneath to secure her. “Have you been good during your lessons today?”
“We have!” Chloe chirped.
Anthony turned to stare at Anne pointedly. “What about your mama?”
Anne kept her head bowed without responding.
“Mama has been good, too!” Chloe chuckled.
It seemed to be a fun topic to discuss for the children, but not for Anne as nothing would enrage Anthony more than her ‘not being good’.
“Mama has been playing ball with us!” Chris said.
Anthony set Chloe down. “Wash your hands. Food will be ready soon.”
“Okay!” The triplets followed the servants to the front door, while Anne stood her ground, feeling intimidated by Anthony’s presence.
She used to be in love with the man before her, but he had exhausted the last feelings she had for him. As soon as he appeared, she would feel as though she had sunk into the ocean with no hope of ever seeing the lights again.
“What did you do today?” Anthony stared at her intently.
“The kids told you, didn’t they? We were playing,” Anne said, feeling as though she was being suffocated when the look in Anthony’s eyes darkened. “I didn’t do anything.”
“Who called you?”
Anne jolted in shock and thought to herself, ‘he bugged my phone? No way. I’ve changed my phone and there’s nothing suspicious about the one I have right now. Ashlynn taught me that it would be safe as long as I do a factory reset on it, which means someone else is spying on me for Anthony.’
“Joanne Newman called and told me that the Pinnacle Academy is closing down tomorrow. She wanted to seek my help.” Anne had wanted to mention this at night after she offered her body to Anthony as she felt that he might be more willing to listen once he was satisfied.
She unlocked her phone and showed Anthony the contact history of four missed calls from Joanne and the one call Anne made to Joanne.
“This is it,” Anne said.
“Get back inside,” he said, before turning to leave.
“Master…” Anne called out. “Are you really shutting the Pinnacle Academy down? Is it really necessary to go that far? You could have just scared Lucas a bit and called it a day.”
Anthony turned around with a dark expression. “Are you saying that I did all these
just to scare him? I’m not that bored.”
Anne walked up to him and grabbed his arm. “Master, just let it go, okay? If the Pinnacle Academy closes down, a lot of children would miss out on the opportunity for getting educated. The triplets attended that school before, too!”
Anthony glared at her emotionlessly. “I thought you weren’t going to mention this again?”
“I…I just think that it’s a shame to destroy such a great school,” Anne said.
“It’s not. Have you forgotten about the school I’m investing in?”
Chapter 1292
“You want to replace the Pinnacle Academy?” Anne realized that it had been his ambition all along and gaped. “No, Anthony, you can’t do that! Let the Pinnacle. Academy be. It won’t stand in your way!”
“Replacing it was bound to happen anyway. Lucas’s downfall is your fault,” Anthony said.
“Why do you have to be so possessive? If there’s really something between me and Lucas, you wouldn’t stand a chance.” Anne did not know how she could change Anthony’s mind, but all she knew was that if she failed to do so, the academy of decades of history would disappear.
‘What of the Newman Family, then? What about Lucas? Losing everything overnight. could drive him mad!’ She thought.
Anthony darted forward and grabbed her by the jaw, before staring into her eyes. “I wouldn’t stand a chance? Are you sure?”
Her lips quivered with uncertainty. Anthony was far too powerful and even if she wanted to settle down with Lucas, they would never stand a chance.
“You were about to get engaged back then, right?” Anthony questioned viciously. Though it was already in the past, he would still lose his temper at the thought of it. He tightened his grip around Anne’s face, itching to crush her into pieces.
“Umph…” She scowled in pain and paled. “It’s in the past.”
“The Newman family came to the Archduke Group and I turned them away. Lucas knew that talking to me won’t help, so he hasn’t shown up once, but he shouldn’t have asked someone else to reach out to you. That’s the bottom line,” he said mercilessly.
“Is it…so wrong for them to not want to watch as their family business turns into ashes? Anyone would exhaust every way they can think of,” Anne said sorrowfully.” Just let them go and nothing will happen. Anthony, you can’t be so cruel…”
“He dares to go to your apartment to see you. I’m already showing mercy for not killing him!” He let her go coldly. “Calm yourself and get ready for dinner.” He then turned to leave.
Anne watched as Anthony walked away, her heart shattering as she wondered what she was to Anthony.
She had thought that Anthony would care about her feelings since he had married her, but he did not. His heart belonged to Bianca and he had never once loved Anne; the torture he imposed on her had only worsen and he would even come close to killing her whenever he lost his temper.
Anne could not understand the man, even when they were being intimate.
After dinner, Anne took the children out for a walk and Anthony accompanied them.
The family of five seemed harmoniously as though nothing had happened.
Anthony took a call from work afterward and returned to the study room, while Anne kept her eyes on Anthony.
She wanted to change Anthony’s mind, no matter the cost.
The triplets were playing amongst themselves, and Anne turned to return to the house, before heading up the stairs to the study room.
Before she could enter, Mia stopped her. “Mrs. Marwood, are you going to the study room? Mr. Marwood is busy.”
Anne glanced at the closed door. She knew that Anthony was busy, but she needed to find an opportunity.
“Mr. Marwood seems to be in a bad mood, so maybe it’s best that you don’t disturb him, Mrs. Marwood? I don’t want him to vent his anger on you,” Mia said.
Anne glanced at Mia’s face. “Anthony told you to say that?”
“Of course. I wouldn’t dare to make this up,” Mia lied.
Anne took a deep breath and walked away wordlessly, not worried about her children as the servants were looking after them.
Chapter 1293
She could not focus even when she was with her children, as the Pinnacle Academy was running out of time.
She returned to the room with countless thoughts occupying her mind.
‘What can I do to change Anthony’s mind? What leverage do I have…’ She thought.
No matter how hard she thought, the only conclusion was that she had nothing but. herself to offer.
Her phone rang and she dazedly reached for it and though the number was not saved as one of the contacts, she recognized the number and immediately knew that it was from Lucas.
Anne did not answer and turned her phone off. If she answered the call from Lucas and Anthony found out about it, she would never be able to explain herself and the Pinnacle Academy’s demise would only be certain.
Lucas might have called because of Joanne’s call from earlier, or perhaps he was calling with the same intention as Joanne; either way, she could not answer the call. Whether she answered the call or not played no role in determining the fate of the Pinnacle Academy.
‘I only hope that Lucas will understand…’ She thought.
She jumped to her feet when she heard the door opening and tensed as the presence that invaded her space.
When the slim figure slid into the bedroom, she narrowed her eyes for a moment. Done with work?”
“Yeah.” He stared at her intently as though he was trying to look into her soul.
”
He took off his watch and placed it on the nightstand. Anne walked over and picked the watch up. “I will put this into the watch winder for you.” She turned and walked into the walk-in closet, before placing the watch into the respective watch winder.
She took a deep breath in determination, and summoned the courage to walk outside. She approached Anthony as he unbuttoned his shirt and took over. “Let me.”
Anthony did not refuse, but continued to stare at her intently.
It took every ounce of self-control for Anne to stop herself from trembling as she struggled through each button.
As she unbuttoned the shirt, the muscles hidden underneath it were revealed and she gasped, recalling how beast-like Anthony was in bed. Despite how nervous she felt, she asked gingerly, “Do you…want a massage?”
She knew that a man as sharp as Anthony would immediately understand what she meant.
He tilted her face up by the chin and stared into her eyes. “So aggressive tonight, huh?”
She turned around to walk away. “Go shower, then. I will- Ah!” Before she could walk away, he dragged her back and she bumped into his chest.
He lifted her off the ground and carried her into the bathroom.
She held onto his shoulders, her fingers trembling from fear.
They went into the bathtub and Anthony leaned back with his eyes closed while Anne gently massaged his shoulders.
The muscles on his body were stone-hard and it took a lot of effort for Anthony to even feel anything, so her fingers began to feel sore shortly after she had started.
Chapter 1294
She leaned on his shoulder and pouted. “My fingers are going to break. Your muscles are too hard.”
She planted a gentle kiss behind his ear and Anthony scowled as though he was trying to remain calm.
Anne batted her eyes and continued, leaving a trail of kisses along his jawline.
Anthony played along and lifted his chin to enjoy the sensation.
“Something you want to say?” Anthony asked hoarsely.
“…No…”
Anthony grabbed her arm and dragged her forward to sit on his lap.
“Umph…” She looked into his eyes and inched closer to press her lips against his.
His lips were warm and her heart raced as she caressed the shape of his lips.
His chest heaved as he grabbed the back of her neck to deepen the kiss, eager for more.
Anne’s head span and she started seeing stars.
Anthony pulled away slightly and whispered hoarsely, “There’s still time to call it off.”
His voice sounded so dangerous that her heart threatened to leap out of her throat, but she knew that this was her only chance.
“I…won’t regret it,” she said through quivering lips.
He bit onto her lips roughly and said, “I’m going to bring you to tears, begging for mercy…”
She had given all of herself to achieve her goal and had not said a single ‘no’ even when she thought she was going to die.
It almost felt as though she was in bed with a beast.
“Anthony… promise me… let the academy be. I can do anything…” Anne said in pain.
“You’ve finally confessed your motive, Anne. Isn’t it a bit inappropriate to talk about that right now? Hm?” He narrowed his eyes as though he was determined to torture her until her death.
“Please, Anthony, don’t make me owe them like this…” She bit onto her lip, hard enough to draw blood. “I am willing to accept any terms you make. Anthony…”
“Are you willing to sacrifice this much for another man?” His movement became more forceful. “Let’s see if you are capable of surviving my wraith!”
When Anne jolted awake the next morning, she sat up from the bed and the soreness at her wrist left her cringing. She paled and panted as the sunlight shone into the room through the window.
She had not a clue as to when she had lost consciousness, nor did she know when Anthony had left, all she knew was that Anthony came close to killing her.
She reached out for her phone once she remembered that she had turned it off and immediately noticed a number of missed calls and unread messages.
Joanne had called her in the middle of night, and so had Lucas.
Anne called Anthony right away.
He answered after a few seconds and asked, “You are awake? How did you sleep?”
“Anthony, about the Pinnacle Academy…”
“It’s too late.”
“…What?” She hung up and immediately searched for any updated news about the Pinnacle Academy.
She soon happened upon the headline that said ‘Pinnacle at its end and ceases to exist’. It had not been bought, nor was it closing down temporarily, it had come to its end and ceased to exist.
Tears scrolled down her cheeks as she bit onto her lower lip, causing the wound from the night before to tear once again.
Chapter 1295
She could not feel any pain when she fell off the bed in tears. After a while, she got up on her feet and stumbled her way toward the bathroom to put on her clothes, before heading down the stairs through the living room.
‘Anthony could do anything to me, but why would he do this to the Newmans? Why does he have to be so merciless?’ She thought, ‘This all happened because Lucas likes me and wants to help me. Anthony isn’t targeting Lucas; he is targeting me!’
She dragged her feet down the stairs, feeling as though she was about to fall apart with each step she took.
“Ah!” She stumbled on the last stair and fell onto the floor.
Anne broke down in tears at the helplessness that overwhelmed her.
Hayden hurried over. “Mrs. Marwood, what’s wrong? Are you hurt?”
“Don’t touch me…” She kept her head bowed and could not help but tremble.
Hayden stilled as he tried to take Anne’s arm. “Mrs. Marwood, are you hurt? Let me help you inside and call Doctor Brown to come over.”
“What’s there to see? I deserve it even if I die…” She said hoarsely.
“Mrs. Marwood?” Hayden could sense the despair in her tone and wondered if she had fought with Anthony.
‘But Mr. Marwood seemed to be in a rather good mood this morning when he came down the stairs,’ Hayden thought.
“Let me just help you up.” He moved closer to help her up.
She shoved him away once she stood, before stumbling up the stairs again.
Hayden spotted a scratch on her knee underneath her skirt.
Anne returned to the room, sat down on the couch and searched for news regarding the Pinnacle Academy. She watched with a pale face as Lucas appeared before the cameras in an exhausted look.
“I’m no longer the principal of the Pinnacle Academy,” Lucas said to the reporters. “I am the one who failed to manage the academy. It’s my fault, and my fault only. I have done everything in my power and I do not regret any of my choices. I hope that whoever cares about me does not feel guilty as well. I did everything willingly.”
His last words almost felt as though they were directed at Anne.
Tears scrolled down Anne’s face. She regretted ever being involved with Lucas, as he would not have to face Anthony’s wraith if she had cut all ties with him.
“Mrs. Marwood…are you okay?” Mia stood next to Anne with the first aid kit and watched as Anne sobbed in confusion.
Anne did not respond like she did not hear Mia at all.
“Mrs. Marwood, I will help treat your wound,” Mia said, before crouching to take the sanitizer out from the kit and proceeding to clean Anne’s wound.
Anne did not feel a thing and simply continued to stare at the television in tears.
Mia glanced at the television and the devastated look on Anne’s face, managing to reach a conclusion as to why Anne was so upset.
She might not know much, but she could always check with Bianca. With enough information, she would be able to divide Anthony and Anne to accomplish her goal.
After the triplets were done with their lessons, they headed to the master bedroom to search for their mother, only to realize that the door was locked.
