“Of course not!” John denied.

scare him.

“You’re right. Your dad should be punished for making your mom disappear,” John instigated.

John’s phone rang suddenly, and he was so scared that the phone dropped to the ground.

Chloe could not help but wonder how someone as timid as John ended up as a

kidnapper.

“It’s your dad!” John said.

“Answer the call! Good luck!” Chloe encouraged, showing her fists.

John answered the call, “Hello? Have you prepared the money?”

“The address.” Anthony’s cold voice sounded.

John gulped nervously, “I’ll send it to you later,” he said and hung up again.

He knew that they would be easily exposed if the call was too long.

Kidnapping Luton’s most powerful man’s child was definitely courting death!

However, life without money was worse than death!

John typed the address on his phone while Chloe leaned over to observe.

“Can you read?” John could not help but ask when he saw her serious expression.

“What’s hard to read about that?” Chloe thought John was really inexperienced, and she asked, “Are you done? Can we go and play?”

“Play?”

“Yes! I’ve never been to the mountains before. It must be fun! Yay!” Chloe ran out of the warehouse with her arms wide open.

She was very excited.

For a moment, John did not know what kind of mentality this kid was in.

He was also afraid that she would get lost in this remote mountainous area, so he

had to follow her behind.

Looking at Chloe being curious and jumping around, John felt a little uncomfortable. After all, he was the kidnapper.

Anthony’s gaze was cruel. “How dare he be so audacious as to kidnap my daughter! He’s digging his own grave!”

“I’ve arranged for people to monitor his neighborhood. As long as John appears, he can’t run away,” Ivan said, and he could not help but sympathize with John.

Indeed, as Anthony said, John’s action was the same as digging his own grave.

“There’s no need to monitor the neighborhood; just control his family.” Anthony turned around and got into the car.

Ivan immediately understood what Anthony meant–Control John’s family and

continued monitoring this area.

“If you don’t want to, let’s keep playing!” Chloe giggled, changing her mood in a blink of an eye.

“Alright, I’ll call your dad.” John bit the bullet and made the call. After all, he felt that taking care of the child was quite tiring.

When the call connected, he requested, “I changed my mind. Let the child’s mom answer the phone. I want to talk to her.”

“Let me hear her voice.”

John gestured to Chloe to come, and she jumped over immediately, pretending to cry without needing John’s teaching, “Papa, help me!”

After that, Chloe ran back to the flowers.

She looked like she wanted to dip her little legs into the water.

“You can’t play in the water!” John was startled when he saw this and hurried over to pull her back to his side.

After pulling Chloe back to her side, he realized something was wrong and quickly hung up the phone.

“It’s not their plan. They probably improvised it,” Anthony said.

Lucas thought the takeaway box was familiar, and he could not help recalling the middle–aged man carrying a similar one when he left the hospital.

Kathryn drove away, and Lucas started the car to follow her.

Not too close, not too far away, a distance that would not let him get caught.

He kept following her until the entrance of the apartment.

He then watched Kathryn walking in.

Lucas was curious about what this place was. Judging from the area and the type of property, it did not look like it was an apartment that Anthony would pick.

Just when he was suspecting if he had over–thought it, a red car drove out. When the car was waiting for the boom gate to be lifted, he saw a woman on the phone through the half–opened window.

Lucas squinted his eyes a little. ‘Isn’t that Bianca? Why is she also here?‘

Bianca immediately thought of Anne, who was locked up in there, and asked, “What

are you doing here? Let me guess. You’re here looking for Anne, right?”

“She’s here?” Lucas‘ expression darkened.

“How did you find this place?” Bianca asked.

If Lucas was not trying to get information out of her, he absolutely would not have told her so much. “I followed Kathryn. I think Kathryn and you wouldn’t come here for no reason, right?”

It was just that he still has not figured it out. The reason for Kathryn to come over probably had something to do with her being a doctor. However, what role was Bianca playing then?

“You’ve come to the right place. Anne is indeed here, but she’s locked up by Anthony, ” said Bianca.

Lucas’s expression became terrible and he almost lost his cool.

“Anthony has an apartment here. It was left behind by his mother, Julie, and very few people knew about it. I found out about it by accident as well. However, if you want to look for Anne, you certainly can’t just go in on your own. I can take

you there.”

“My father had gifted this apartment to Anne. I just happened to have the key.” Bianca did not say how she got the key. Lucas‘ line of sight landed at the balcony next door, and he was thinking up a plan.

After he went into the bedroom, Lucas was completely stunned when he saw Anne sitting on the floor by the bed with her head leaning against the bed listlessly. He simply stood there as he could not believe what he saw.

He was even questioning his own eyes.

Anne leaned on the bed without moving at all and her eyes were closed. Her black hair that was resting on half of her face made her skin look even paler, and there was a long scar on the other side of her face.

Were those…chains on her wrist?

“Anne…”

Anne moved a little when she heard his voice, but she did not open her eyes and she maintained that same position.

She thought she was hearing things.

“Anne?” Lucas went up to her, squatted in front of her, and gently held her thin arm.

Only then Anne shuddered and opened her eyes. When she saw the man in front of him, she was even questioning if she was dreaming.

“What happened?” Lucas was breathing hard and trembling as he held the long and thin chain. “How can Anthony do this to you?”

It seemed like only then did Anne finally become certain the person in front of her was truly Lucas. She instantly pushed him away out of fear. “What are you doing here? Hurry up and leave. Don’t stay here! You’ll be seen by Anthony!”
