Ch. 1196..1200: Powerful Papa with Triplet Babies Chapter 1196-1200
Chapter 1196
“I…I won’t…” Anne covered her cheek. “I will keep the mask on at all time. I won’t take it off…”
She had misunderstood what Anthony meant, but Anthony did not intend to explain.
Anne had challenged him over and over again and it was time for him to give her a wake–up call.
“I’ve consulted the doctor in the Authentic Clinic and he said that I can get a skin graft. I won’t like this anymore.” Terrified of the possibility of not being able to see her children again, she pleaded.
However, Anthony remained as cold as steel the entire time. Once the car stopped, Anne held onto the car door and refused to get out.
“Keep doing that if you want me to break your arm!” Anthony roared ruthlessly.
The memories of how her shoulder was nearly dislocated, she let go and Anthony impatiently dragged her out of the bar, before pulling her forward.
She looked up at the building before her and instantly realized that he was taking her to Julie’s apartment.
‘Where is Anthony taking me here? Why…‘ She thought.
He neglected her fear and shoved her into the apartment forcefully.
Anne was familiar with the surroundings, but did not understand why Anthony had brought her here. “Why…did you bring me here?”
“Reflect on yourself here. You are not in the right mind and you are not allowed to go anywhere!” Anthony said viciously, before turning to leave.
Anne froze, unable to comprehend what he meant. When she finally noticed that Anthony was leaving, she hurried after him and blocked his way. “What do you mean? I am in the right mind. Where should I have to stay here? No way! I want to go back to the Royal Mansion…”
She tried to run outside, but he pinned her against the wall and she whimpered in pain.
“Stay right here!” He roared.
She grabbed onto his shirt. “Take me with you. I want to go with you…”
He caressed her cheek as though he did not see the scar on her skin. “I thought you
hated me? You can keep hating me here. Let’s see how long you will last.”
“Nothing happened between me and Tommy. I swear it…” She sobbed.
He stared at her furiously, but managed to suppress his rage, before exiting through the door.
“Baam!”
The door was slammed shut and was automatically locked. She was stunned at first, but hurried over to try and open the door once she realized that she had been left behind.
“Anthony! Anthony, open the door! Let me out!” She shouted and punched on the door, not stopping even when her hands began to hurt. Even so, there was no response.
“Open the door! Open the door now! Somebody! Anthony…Anthony Marwood, I hate you!” She dragged a chair open and flung it at the door.
“Baam!”
Anthony narrowed his eyes coldly outside the door, before walking into the elevator to leave.
Drained, Anne fell onto the ground as tears scrolled down her cheeks, all the while thinking to herself, ‘Why would he do this to me? Why?!‘
Anne turned around and stared across the living room at the balcony, before struggling to crawl over and leaning on the fences to search for Anthony outside of the building.
There was nothing because the balcony did not face the entrance of the building but the garden.
Anne backed away and curled up on the couch, her face as pale as a ghost and the sharp scar on her cheek had made her appear extremely pathetic.
‘How long is he going to keep me here?‘ She thought, ‘He said that I’m not in the right mind. Is it because I fought back and said that I hate him? I didn’t even hate him at first…‘
She leaned on the couch helplessly, before finally drifting off to sleep from exhaustion.
After a while, she heard the digital lock on the door opening and jolted awake. Once she came to the realization that someone was coming, she hurried to the living room. However, it was not Anthony as she had expected.
It was Kathryn, who carried her medical case and a lunchbox. Kathryn stilled for a moment when she saw Anne, before walking over. “Are you hungry? I got you lunch. These are all really delicious.”
“Where’s Anthony?” Anne asked.
“Mr. Marwood is busy, so he called for me to bring you food,” Kathryn explained, “he also told me to check the scar on your face. Why don’t you eat first?”
Anne turned around and sat down on the couch without a word, her face pale with a blank expression.
Kathryn decided not to take the lunchbox out of the thermal bag, concerned that it would get cold. She walked over to check on the scar and put on her gloves before pressing on the scar gently. “Does this hurt?”
“Visible scars are never the ones that actually hurt. The ones that hurt most are not visible to the human eyes…” Anne muttered dazedly.
Kathryn knew what ‘scars‘ Anne was referring to, but even the best doctor in the world would not be able to help with those. “Have you provoked him?”
Agitated, Anne retorted, “What do you mean, did I provoke him? So what if I did? Does that mean he gets to lock me up here? To punish me? I didn’t do anything! Do you understand just how many wounds I have suffered, the old and the new ones. I don’t even have the time or the means to heal them. I don’t understand why Anthony is doing this to me! Wait, that’s right. I get it now. In the end…he never truly cares about me. He has never cared…”
Her heart felt torn and every single breath she drew hurt.
She thought that loving him was enough. They had children and a family together, but still…
Kathryn could not understand Anthony either and if Anne herself felt like Anthony did not care, others would only feel the same.
“Fine. Let him lock me up! There’s no light or hope in my life anyway!” She sobbed helplessly.
“Don’t think like that. Mr. Marwood probably did this because he is mad. It will be fine after a few days,” Kathryn consoled her.
“Do you really…think so?” Anne questioned, her eyes filled with sorrow and confusion. The disbelief in her eyes soon transformed into resentment. “Let me tell you, it will never be okay. He is a mad man!”
Chapter 1197
Kathryn remained standing, feeling helpless as she listened to Anne’s desperate wails. Anthony had married Anne and the two had three children together, so how could their relationship worsen to such an extent?
“Mr. Marwood is used to being ruthless at work, so maybe that’s just how he deals with everything in life. Maybe there’s some sort of misunderstanding between you two. Just resolve it. You know what kind of a man he is, so just don’t provoke him. That’s what survival is like. You will need to learn to be careful in front of Mr. Marwood.”
Devastated, Anne felt like bursting into laughter. “Be careful? Can you read the future?” Anne retorted. “Is it wrong of me to run into Tommy? Is it a crime for me to invite him into my office for a cup of tea? What did I do to deserve this?”
Kathryn finally realized that the triggering point of the conflict between Anne and Anthony was Tommy.
“If you know that this is what triggers Mr. Marwood, just avoid Tommy altogether from now on,” Kathryn suggested.
Anne remained silent blankly and thought, ‘Sure. I should just run from any man that comes my way. Is that fair? Do I not have the freedom to talk to someone else? The only choice I get is to live the rest of my life fawning over Anthony? How about what happened in the past when Anthony injured me? Did I have it all coming? This isn’t the marriage that I want…‘
Kathryn walked closer to her. “Does Tommy like you?”
Anne shot her a confused look. “What?”
“I’m just saying that if Tommy likes you, that’s all the more reason to stay away from him. You are challenging Mr. Marwood by speaking to Tommy,” Kathryn said.
She did not want Anne to lose her mind, or she would only be burdened further as Anne’s doctor. Kathryn knew that Anthony would never let Anne go and anyone with eyes could tell that he was obsessively possessive of her.
“I don’t know if Tommy likes me, but he’s helped me a lot and I see him as a brother. Nothing has ever happened between us and I’ve explained this to Anthony before!” Anne stared outside the balcony, paling as the sunlight shone into her eyes. “He isn’t doing this to me because of that. It’s because of… Bianca.”
Stunned, Kathryn asked, “Are you saying that Mr. Marwood is doing all these for
Bianca’s sake?”
Anne lowered her head in defeat. “Is that even surprising? I saw them kissing! Antony has always been protective of Bianca and he even let her go after she killed my dad. I feel nothing but resentment and disappointment toward him, so why should I have to change myself in order to please him? We belong to two different worlds…”
‘How complicated,‘ Kathryn thought, ‘love is the most complicated thing in the world.‘
“Mr. Marwood said that if you admit that you were wrong and promise not to do that again, he will let you out.”
“Don’t send food here again.” Anne took a deep breath to ease the pain she felt in her chest, before proceeding as though she did not hear a word Kathryn said. “Just fill the refrigerator with food. I can cook on my own.”
Kathryn nodded, but knew that she would need to consult with Anthony before making the decision. “Just eat first.” She opened the lunchbox, worried that Anne would refuse to eat as negative emotions could affect one’s appetite.
To her surprise, Anne did not say a word and simply took her seat, before proceeding to eat.
Kathryn sighed a breath of relief that Anne was willing to eat.
“Take it slow. I will tidy things up once you are done,” Kathryn said, before gathering the tools in her briefcase.
She looked up as Anne ate in silence, wondering what Anne was thinking at the moment.
‘Maybe she’s thinking about her kids,‘ she thought, ‘her triplets are in the Royal Mansion, so she must really want to see them. If that’s the case, why fight Anthony to begin with? Is it because she’s reached her limit? I suppose that makes sense. There’s a limit to how much a person can take.‘
Chapter 1198
At the moment, Kathryn studied Anne for a few minutes and realized how quiet Anne was.
Her heart sank as she recognized that this was the way Anne was isolating herself from the world, as that would only mean that Anthony would continue to lock her in this apartment.
In the afternoon, Anne went for a nap and woke up to find that her refrigerator had been stuffed with groceries.
She concluded that someone had delivered the grocery when she was sleeping in the room, but she did not know who delivered it.
There were only a limited number of people who had access to the apartment, as far as she recalled, there had been four apart from her, Anthony, Kathryn, Bianca and Oliver.
She closed the refrigerator door expressionlessly, before walking over to the balcony. She stood by the fences and glanced to the side at the apartment her father bought for her.
Tears welled in her eyes as sorrow overwhelmed her.
‘It’s a good thing that I accepted it,‘ she thought, ‘if I turned him down at the time, I would regret it so much…’
Anne took a deep breath to suppress her tears.
The reality was far too cruel. Her father had given his life with Bianca, yet was murdered by Bianca in the end.
The pain in Anne’s chest was far worse than the injury she suffered on her face.
‘How can I not resent them? Why should I have to admit that I was wrong, when I haven’t done anything wrong?!‘
She was far too drained to argue or protest, and decided to give up in the end.
Throughout the three days that she was locked in the apartment, Anthony had not appeared at all. She did not have her phone, but there was an active landline in the living room, but Anne simply ignored it and had not touched it since she entered the apartment.
Bianca was overjoyed that Anne had not returned to the Royal Mansion for three days in a row. She headed to the Archduke Group and hurried over when she spotted
Anthony’s Rolls Loyce. She walked closer when Anthony came out of the building and said, “Anthony, are you going back to the Royal Mansion?”
Anthony stilled for a moment, before glancing at her expressionlessly.
“My car is broken and they are fixing it. I took a taxi here, so can you give me a lift?” Bianca asked gently. Not wanting Anthony to refuse, she added, “I used to travel in your car all the time in the past, remember?”
He shot her a cold look and went into the car, but left the door open behind him.
Realizing that was her cue to get inside, she followed him into the car cheerfully.
The Rolls Loyce drove out of the Archduke Group and onto the highway.
“I just need a ride to the apartment I lived in before. You’ve been there before,” Bianca said with a sheepish smile. “Anthony, I thought that you were still mad at me and I didn’t really expect you to let me
into the car. I’ve been reflecting on myself, and I keep thinking back to how things were, especially when I am playing the piano…”
“That’s what you came all the way to say?” He stared at her coldly.
She choked on her voice, feeling as though none of the things that she said mattered to him.
“…Anthony, are you in a bad mood?” Bianca asked. “Did Anne did something? She’s stubborn like that. Don’t take it personally…”
Chapter 1199
Bianca was still speaking, when Anthony reached for a phone that belonged to Anne. He unlocked it and faced the screen at Bianca. “Did you send this?”
Tension in the air rose as Bianca felt consumed by fear. She stared at the photo on the screen speechlessly.
It was a photo she took of herself when she was waiting in front of the Archduke Group.
‘Why does Anthony have Anne’s phone? I thought that he had chased her out of the Royal Mansion,‘ she thought.
“You…is this why you let me into the car?” Bianca asked, “Anthony, I was the one who sent the photo. Who is she to stay by your side? I am the only one who actually love you. Anthony, are you really going to waste your time on a woman who doesn’t even care about you?”
Anthony leaned back on the black leather seat, his eyes filled with rage as he glared at Bianca.
Bianca crouched and placed her hand on Anthony’s thigh, before continuing
sincerely with tears in her eyes. “Anthony, let me stay by your side. I don’t need you to care about me. All I want is to be able to see you every single day. I won’t compete with Anne over anything, and I won’t ask any questions about what you do when you are not with me. We can still be the way we used to be, okay?”
She had completely let go of her pride, but this was her only chance and she was willing to act slowly if that could change Anthony’s mind.
However, Anthony did not waver and simply tapped his finger on the car window. The car slowly made a stop next to the road. “Get out.”
Frustrated that she had not reached her goal. “Anthony, don’t you want to use me and provoke Anne? That way, she will know that you might be interested in someone else and she will not dare to play hard to get any longer…”
“Scram!” Anthony could hardly contain his anger and the veins on the back of his hands began showing as he clenched his fists.
“Anthony, you can’t do this to me. I can’t live without you…”
Before Bianca could finish, the car door was opened from the outside and Anthony’s bodyguards dragged her out.
“Ah!” Bianca stumbled and came close to being run over by the car as it drove off just as she managed to steady herself. By the time she managed to recover from the shock, the car had disappeared from sight.
She stomped at the fences next to her, wondering why it did not work when she finally found the opportunity to speak to Anthony and had done so in the humblest manner possible.
‘I thought he chased Anne out. Mia said that Anne hasn’t returned and not even the triplets had seen their mother since then,‘ she thought, ‘this was my chance! Why?! Is there more to the story? Why else would Anthony have Anne’s phone?‘
Feeling increasingly anxious, Bianca went to the office to look for Anne.
She could not enter the building, but could not find Anne’s car in the parking lot either, so she reached out to a few employees that she knew to ask about Anne, only to be told that Anne had not been seen
at the office for over a month.
Anne had not been to work since the day she was chased out of the Royal Mansion, and Bianca realized that things had not gone exactly as she had planned.
“If Anne isn’t in the Royal Mansion, nor is she here at work and Anthony has her phone, where could she be?”
Chapter 1200
Reminded of the time when both Anthony and Anne went missing, Blanca recalled a place.
She switched into a new car to head back and retrieve the keys, before heading to the apartment in mind.
The guard stopped her at the gate, but she immediately said that she was Anne’s visitor. The guard found Anne’s name in the tenant list and allowed Bianca to enter the building.
Bianca went into the elevator and slowed down when she walked past Anthony’s apartment.
Anne overheard footsteps outside the door and walked over, thinking that she might have imagined it at first. After all, there were only two apartments on each floor and on this floor, one belonged to Julie and the other was hers.
Anne stood from the couch after sitting there for most of the day and went over to the balcony, feeling like a bird without its wings, unable to escape to the sky even when it was right before her eyes.
“Anne Vallois!”
Anne froze and turned around to find Bianca standing on the balcony of her apartment as she glared at Anne viciously.
“You really are here!” Bianca screamed.
Anne glanced at her calmly, before walking closer to study the enraged look on Bianca’s face.
“I thought you were chased out of the Royal Mansion? Why are you here? Who are you to come here? You disgust me!” Bianca questioned angrily.
Bianca did her research on the apartment when she first found out about it and realized that it belonged to Anthony’s mother.
Sarah had caused Julie’s death and Anne’s presence inside Julie’s apartment was a direct insult to the deceased.
“Who are you to go inside my apartment?” Anne retorted coldly. “You killed my dad and now you are in the apartment he bought for me. You are the disgusting one. Get out!”
“And I’m just supposed to obey that? What a joke? Who do you think you are? Let me tell you this, I was just chatting with Anthony in his car before coming here. We were so happy. Aren’t you mad?” Bianca mocked, “Oh, right. I know why you are here. Just look at your face. It’s only natural that Anthony doesn’t want to look at you. It sure beats having to see you every day in the Royal Mansion!”
“So why are you angry, then?”
Bianca choked on her voice. “I’m angry because of what a cheap wh*re you are! Who dare you remain by Anthony’s side looking like that? You should get as far away from him as possible and go to hell!”
“Don’t worry. If I’m going to hell, I’ll be sure to drag you down with me,” Anne retorted.
Furious, Bianca said, “As if you are capable of doing that! I want to see how manage that!” She turned to enter one of the rooms, before returning with a table lamp in hand and slamming it onto the ground at the balcony.
“Bianca!” Anne roared, “What are you doing? Don’t touch anything in my apartment!”
“I am touching them all!” Bianca turned and proceeded to throw the blankets, drawings, vases and everything else she could find to the balcony.
“Bianca!” Anne desperately wished she could jump over to slap Bianca across the face, but she could not do so because the only conjunction between balconies had been blocked by Anthony.
Once she threw everything out, Bianca went inside again but did not return. Instead, all Anne could hear was Bianca’s crazed laughter.
‘What is she laughing about? I can’t see,‘ Anne thought.
