“Dad, don’t do this,” she said, worried the rumors had gotten to him. “I don’t care what people are saying.”

He sighed, locking eyes with her. “This isn’t about gossip. I should’ve done this a long time ago. I hate that you’ve been dragged through the mud because I didn’t act sooner.”

Her throat tightened.

She’d shrugged off the shareholders’ attacks, ignored the rumors. But hearing it from her father—that he saw it all—hit her hard. She’d poured everything into keeping the company afloat while he was sick and her brother was MIA. Paid off debts. Rebuilt MacLean Enterprises from ashes.
