“Yeah.” he said stiffly.

It was just a short answer, but Isabel felt like it punched into her chest like a hammer.

She took his hand to comfort him. “Sorry, | shouldn’t be upset at you.”

Roland smiled affectionately. “It’s not your fault, | should’ve said something earlier.”

Isabel did not even know that his father passed away, in a car accident no less.

This explained why he only lived with his mother.

Come to think of it, she knew nothing of his family. She asked him, “Can you tell me about your family?” Since they were dating, she should try to get to know him better.
