Feeding the Doctors

Lucy and Cherise were sapped of strength and starved. The grilled cheese sandwiches in the lounge were barely enough to satisfy the black hole within their stomachs.

With the door open, Damien watched his tiny wife completely absorbed in eating the grilled cheese sandwich with knitted brows.

He stalked closer and promptly plucked the sandwich out from Cherise’s hand. “This is not nutritious.”

Cherise, who was enjoying her meal, looked up in annoyance. “Who cares if it’s not nutritious? I’m hun… honey?”

Her initial anger turned to shock and then to sheer joy.

She held out her arms, wrapping them around Damien’s neck, and jumped onto him as he held her. “You’re back! I missed you terribly!”
