Cherise?” he inquired.
Lucy pursed her lips. “She’s not feeling well and couldn’t come in today.”
“Hmm, skipping out without calling in sick? Must be living the high life with that rich husband,” the director mumbled, shaking his head.
Lucy furrowed her brow. “Excuse me, what did you say?”
If memory serves, neither she nor Cherise mentioned their personal lives during their job applications. How could the director possibly know Cherise was married to someone wealthy?
