His words trailed off under Mandy’s icy glare. A few seconds later, he left, looking thoroughly defeated.

Colin gave Mandy a mocking look under the bar’s dim, suggestive lighting. “Tsk, tsk, Ms. Wool. Didn’t expect you to be so authoritative in front of your subordinates…”

It made him think of his own situation. Lennon, technically his subordinate, never respected him. At the company, he had plenty of underlings, but when they looked at him, there was always a hint of ridicule in their eyes.
