Colin lingered by the doorway, balancing two steaming cups of tea. It was clear he had arrived with the intention of offering refreshment to them.

Mandy rolled her eyes. “Pfft. Eavesdropping.”

Colin pursed his lips, his expression tightening slightly. “I wasn’t eavesdropping. You didn’t shut the door,” he countered.

Mandy responded with silence, her frustration palpable.

“Alright, we’re all friends here, right? Misunderstandings can be cleared up,” Lucy chimed in, her tone light as she glanced at Mandy and Colin and winked. “You don’t have to explain. I understand,” Shortly after, Lucy took out her phone and dialed Cherise’s number. “Quick, come over to my place. It’s nothing serious. Mandy’s here. She’s at my house now. Mm. She came last night and stayed with Colin…”

Mandy was dumbfounded. She couldn’t shake the feeling that Lucy was intentionally causing tension.
