overcomplicate things.”

He quickly took the shirt from her and started buttoning it, his smile lingering. “Plus, it spares Alexis from having to suffer through your mediocre cooking.”

Cherise was rendered speechless.

She arched an eyebrow. “Why does everyone say my cooking isn’t good? I think I’m a decent cook.”

With a pout, she lifted her head, her eyes shimmering. “Don’t you think my cake is tasty?”
