After Madeline asked that, she did not get Ava’s answer even after a few seconds had passed. Hence, she was a little worried. “Ava, who is it? Why aren’t you talking? Ava, Ava..?”

“Maddie, I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.” Ava’s abnormally calm voice sounded from the other end. “It’s just a colleague of mine and she has some questions about work that she needs to ask me urgently. I’m gonna go now. I’ll talk to you later. Bye.”

After Ava said that, she hung up the phone.

On the other end, Madeline sat up from Jeremy’s embrace and handed the little boy to Jeremy before walking to one side to change.

“What’s wrong, Linnie? Where are you going?” Jeremy looked confusedly at Madeline, who had a serious expression on her face.

“I think something’s not right with Ava. Someone’s at the door of her apartment and she started sounding strange after she opened the door. I’m worried that something has happened to her.” Madeline analyzed the situation and put on her coat. “I have to go over.”
