Yehua didn’t say much. She and Mrs. Legare helped Joaquin into his room and eased him onto the bed. When he finally collapsed onto the mattress, Yehua sat at the edge, catching her breath.

Getting him up the elevator alone had drained her strength.

Worried, Mrs. Legare called Joaquin’s name several times, but he didn’t respond.
“Yehua, he drank so much… could he get alcohol poisoning?” she asked anxiously.

“Auntie, don’t worry,” Yehua said gently. “This isn’t the first time Dr. Legare has gotten like this. He’ll be fine. Let him sleep it off. He might wake up with a headache tomorrow — just make him some honey water.”

“Honey water? Do we have any?” Mrs. Legare asked.

“Yes,” Yehua said. “I asked my mom to buy some local honey and send two jin of it for Dr. Legare. Last time he got drunk, I made him some, and it helped.”

Mrs. Legare sighed. “Yehua, if you weren’t here, Joaquin would have no one. Aitana wouldn’t even bother acknowledging him.”
