Yehua stepped into the bar and quickly spotted the man she’d come for. Joaquin was slumped over a table, mumbling, “Drink… drink…”

A bartender noticed her and walked over.
“You must be Miss Yehua. This gentleman is very drunk. He gave us your number when he came in and said to call you if he couldn’t handle the alcohol.”

Yehua nodded politely. “How much is his tab? I’ll settle it.”

The bartender led her to the register. After paying, she went back to Joaquin, studying his drunken, helpless state with a sigh. She bent down, pulled one of his arms over her shoulder, and tried to lift him — but he was too heavy and too far gone.

She had no choice but to ask the bartender for help. With their combined effort, Joaquin finally staggered to his feet.

“Thank you,” she told them.
