Aitana picked up the skincare set Tania had given her and handed it to her second aunt. “This is a gift from Alex’s aunt. His mother gave me the same one too. It’s all skincare products, Aunt. Let’s each take a set—I can’t possibly use that much.”

Her second aunt quickly declined. “They gave those to you, so you should keep them and use them slowly. I have plenty of skincare products. And what they gave is clearly meant for someone your age. I’m already an older woman; the products I use are different from what young women use.”

Still, Aitana insisted until her second aunt finally accepted it with a smile. “Alright, then Auntie won’t stand on ceremony. I’ll accept it.”

“We’re family, like mother and daughter,” Aitana said softly. “You spend more time with me and take care of me more than my own mom can. In my heart, you’re like my mother. It’s only right that I show you respect.”

Truthfully, there was no way she could finish all the skincare sets herself anyway.

“What did Joaquin want with Alex?” her aunt asked, suddenly worried. “He won’t bully Alex, will he?”

Aunt Pollock was clearly biased toward Alex. She admired him deeply and hoped Aitana would marry him—not because of the Yorks’ wealth, but because of their solid family values. Joining a family like that would be a blessing.
