Driving, Alex reassured her. “They just gave you two sets of skincare products, right? One from each of them. Altogether it’s only a few thousand dollars. That’s nothing—not expensive at all. It’s just a small gift, so you really don’t need to feel bad.”

He added with a laugh, “If they gave you something actually expensive—like the jewelry my mom collects—then yes, you’d have every right to feel overwhelmed. But skincare worth a few thousand dollars? Don’t stress. They do this for every girl they meet for the first time, not just you.”
