“It’s a close call,” Alex said. He had full confidence in Maverick, but he wouldn’t underestimate Milo either—the Bucham kids were known for being exceptional in martial arts.

Sure enough, after about ten minutes, the boys finally stopped fighting and collapsed onto the ground, panting. Neither won or lost. It was a clean tie.

A moment later, Maverick got up and walked over to Aitana.
“Aunt Aitana, can I sit on the swing with you?”

“Of course,” Aitana replied gently.

“Aunt Aitana, I want to sit too!” Milo came running over, eager to join.

To make room, Aitana simply stepped aside and let the two boys have the swing. Unlike her, they didn’t want a slow, gentle sway—they wanted Alex to push them high, higher, as high as they dared.

Their laughter echoed through the backyard.
