“Grandma, aren’t you staying the night?” Alex asked.

The old lady had already stayed for two nights, and Alex was reluctant to let her go. Not only did he want to fulfill his filial duty—he wanted more lessons on how to win a girl’s heart.

“No,” she waved him off immediately. “I’m not staying. I don’t need you boys these next few days. I’m going back to spend time with my great-granddaughter. She’s adorable!”

Left with no choice, Alex stood up and walked his grandmother and sister-in-law to the door.

Once again, he was reminded that after the great-grandchildren were born, the grandsons had all moved down the priority ladder.

Alex remembered how, when he was little, he had asked Rosella why she didn’t give birth to a girl.
