He parked his electric scooter, grabbed his keys, and went inside. The household staff got off work at ten, so no one was there to greet him—but Alex never cared for formalities anyway.

Alex sighed and walked over gently. “Grandma, why aren’t you sleeping in your room? You’re dozing here again. I told you not to wait for me.”

She woke up, rubbed her eyes, and smiled. “Alex, you’re back. Grandma was watching TV and got carried away by Morpheus.”
