He spotted her immediately and walked over, smiling faintly. “Aitana, you’re faster than me. Guess your scooter really does beat city traffic.”

Aitana smiled. “It’s more convenient. You can’t weave through cars like I can.”

A waiter approached to take their orders.

Joaquin ordered a coffee, while Aitana chose a glass of juice.

“Senior Joaquin,” she said lightly, “isn’t it a bit late for coffee? Won’t it keep you awake?”
