She didn’t love Joaquin, but she still respected him. They had known each other for years, and she didn’t want him to be crushed professionally because of a personal matter.

Even though Aitana knew Alex and his family weren’t the type to abuse their power, she still wanted to make sure Joaquin wouldn’t be hurt because of her.
Alex chuckled softly. “Relax. I’m not that petty. I won’t bully him. He’s just jealous. You treat me well, and he can’t stand it. That’s all.”
Aitana’s lips curved in a light smile. “I know you’re not that kind of person. I was just being overly cautious.”
Alex tilted his head slightly. “You’re still kind to him, though.”
