It would be more than twenty years before Belle would grow up and marry.
Besides, Belle was the York family’s only daughter. When her wedding day came, she’d never need to worry about her dowry. Her uncles and aunts would all prepare generous gifts, and her parents and grandparents would naturally give her the best of everything.
“By the way,” Rosella said, “call your grandmother so she doesn’t worry.”
She realized that ever since landing and getting into the car, she hadn’t called home to let them know they’d arrived safely.
Rosella dialed her mother-in-law’s number. The old lady picked up almost immediately.
“Mom, we’ve arrived in Eaglioncile,” Rosella said loudly, knowing her mother-in-law’s hearing wasn’t what it used to be. “River picked us up. We’re on our way to his house now.”
“Oh, good, I’m glad you made it safely,” the old lady said, watching the younger children play nearby. “Now get some rest. I’ll hang up.”
