Ten o’clock that night, at Wildridge Manor.
Zachary pushed open the door and stepped inside. Serenity, sitting on the sofa with their daughter in her arms, stood up to greet him.
“You’re back,” she said softly.
“Yes,” Zachary replied. “Is Belle asleep? Why not put her in bed?”
When Romina had arrived earlier, Zachary had been eating quickly before heading back to work. Now, finally home, he gently took his sleeping daughter from his wife’s arms.
The little one slept soundly. His eyes softened, and he couldn’t help but kiss her tender cheek.
“Belle just fell asleep,” Serenity said. “She wanted me to hold her. She played like crazy today.”
