Aitana stood up too, ready to walk Alex out, but he waved her off. “No need to see me out,” he said, turning and heading toward Wordisk Garden.
She watched him disappear down the street before heading back to the clinic.
The cook had already come downstairs to call them up for dinner.
“Did the Eighth Young Master York come here on foot? Didn’t he drive?” Carlos asked, glancing in the direction Alex had gone.
“He’s here to look at houses, isn’t he?” Aitana replied as she walked. “His car’s probably parked at Wordisk Garden. Then again, his hand injury isn’t completely healed, so maybe he’s not driving. But honestly, it’s not like his condition prevents him from driving.”
“No matter how he got here,” she added, “guys like him usually have chauffeurs. Why would they need to drive themselves?”
“His eldest cousin always has several bodyguards with him,” Carlos said. “And it’s not for show—he brings them to keep women away. Even when he was married and his wife was pregnant, plenty of women still tried to get into his bed.”
