Carlos went upstairs and stopped in front of Aitana’s door. He knocked lightly, then called through it, “Aitana, are you up?”
“I’m up,” she replied.
Aitana had already changed clothes and was about to head downstairs for breakfast before work. She opened the door with a smile.
“Brother, is it time to eat?” She assumed Carlos was calling her down to eat. “I work the night shift, so I always wake up at this hour.” She added playfully, “I only woke up because I was hungry.”
Carlos said matter-of-factly, “The eighth young master of the York family is here. He brought a bouquet of flowers and said he’ll send a banner to the hospital for you tomorrow.”
“Alex York?” Aitana was stunned. “Why is he here? How does he even know where we live?”
At the hospital she had only spoken with Alex in passing during her rounds. She’d been busy, and he’d recovered quietly, so they’d barely interacted. She was sure she’d never told him her home address—she never did that with patients.
